The Legends meet on Waverider and Tari reports that the alien killed D'Smore on The Throne, attacking him on the show. Gideon brings up the video, which shows Knox killing D'Smore, and Behrad suggests that Knox mistook D'Smore for a real king and tried to usurp his throne. Ava says that all they need to do is stop Knox from killing D'Smore, and should head to Hollywood. Mick is drinking, and suggests that they search for Sara. He refuses to go with them, and the others discuss how he's taking Sara's disappearance badly.

On the alien planet, Gary wakes up Sara and tells her that whatever is out there is still tracking them. Sara says that she's too weak from the poison, and Gary will have to fight the aliens. When Gary hesitates, Sara tells him that Ava is her other side and she doesn't care if Gary has to eat the aliens as long as she gets back to Ava.

Waverider appears in Hollywood 2045 before D'Smore is killed, when he's hosting D Throne. John, Zari, and Behrad go to the studio and John insists that he's not jealous. Behrad is on the phone to his mother, and claims that he's visiting Zari in Hollywood. Meanwhile, Nate and Ava get to the main door separately, and Zari has John hold her sunglasses. She then draws everyone over to her as an influencer, and the other sneak into the studio.

Saucey is performing on stage as D'Smore looks on. In the dressing room, Ava, Nate, and Behrad goes to the stage as Saucey finishes her number. He explains that he was abducted, landed on a space pod in the desert, and his inevitable victory will be celebrated with an invasion.

Spooner comes in, and Knox insists that he followed them there. He breaks through the forcefield with his technology, and Knox tells them that if they're going to fight unfairly then he'll call in his armada. Ava says that he got the rules all wrong, and on Earth they compete for the throne via song and distance. Behrad tells Knox that with his moves, he's on the way to becoming king, and Knox accepts the challenge.

Zari is still working the crowd, and Les-Lay arrives and says that they're business is hurting. They go to a café and discuss the situation, and Tazi wonders how her business is going down the tube. Ava calls and says that Knox has to compete for Da Throne. D'Smore comes in and he and Zari toss insults, and Zari introduces John as her boyfriend. D'Smore tells Zari that her career is dead, and John sets his mask helmet on fire. Meanwhile, Tari tells D'Smore's cameramen and his audience that she's the show's Wild Card, and is there to claim Da Throne.

The semifinals begin and on the stage, Zari is introduced as the Wild Card. The host says that one contestant will be sent home. Spooner and Ava are watching the show on Waverider, and Ava admits that she doesn't know how the plan will work. When Spooner says that Mick doesn't seem to work with the team, Ava says that he's a special case but Spooner isn't impressed.

On the show, Zari comes out and performs her number, 'Stuntin' in my Cartier' while John looks on from backstage. The audience applauds wildly when she's done, and the host brings up the results. Zari wins over her competition, Neon Thrill,.

The aliens approach Sara, sitting at the base of a tree. Gary in his alien form jumps down and eats them, and Sara hallucinates Ava there. Meanwhile, Gary finishes eating and tells Sara that she can come out. He hears moaning and finds Ava laying unconscious on the ground.

In Zari's green room, Nate congratulates Zari but warns that the votes were too close for comfort. Behrad suggests that the views are suckers for a good love story. He figures that he can work with John, and Nat and Behrad takes him off to "upgrade" his look. Maman arrives and tells Tari that he thought Tari would tell her if she was competing on Maman's favorite show. Maman tells her daughter that she doesn't have to settle, and just wants her to be happy. They hug, and Maman tells Tari that she'll try to support her if she loves John. Tari dismisses John as just a fling, and John is outside secretly listening.

John arrives on stage in his new punk outfit, and Zari has him sit with her and they sit down for an interview with the host. Zari says that she's been focusing on self-care and traveling the world with "Johnny C", and John vaguely agrees. She plays up their relationship, and says that John is minor royalty. She hints that they might marry soon, and John says that he's disappearing and walks off. Tari claims that John is jetlagged.

Ava and Spooner are watching, and figure that John was harsh.

Tari confronts John privately, and he accuses her of using the mission to restore her campaign. She reminds him of what she said earlier about their relationship not being real, and storms off. D'Smore approaches Zari and offers to begin their relationship anew.

Sara continue following Ava through the woods, without Ava not saying a word. They come to a hidden ship, and Ava opens the door and motions Sara in. When Ava starts to go in, Sara attacks Ava figuring that it's a trap and "Ava": is an impostor, and knocks "Ava" out

The host interviews Knoxacrillion, who answers everything literally. Mick joins Ava and Spooner, and wants to know why they're not capturing Knoxacrillion. He orders Gideon to fire on Hollywood, and Knox detects the timeship powering up. The alien armada arrives in orbit and Gideon detects them, and Knox says that if they try another trick they will all die.

Mick figures that Earth was screwed anyway and walks off. Ava goes off and asks what's going on, and he says that if Ava had been kidnapped then Sara would have found her. Ava tells Mick that she's sick of his attitude, and he says that Lita is too busy and doesn't need him. His commander tells him to get his act together or get off the ship.

Les-Lay approaches John, who says that his smoking is perfect because it plays up his bad-boy image. She figures that she's pleased John walked out on the interview, and she convinced D'Smore to cheat on Zari by having an affair with him. Disgusted, John walks off.

D'Smore meets with Knox in D'Smores' dressing room and says that he has a female empowerment anthem song prepared. When Knox says that his race are bisexual, D'Smore tells him that Knox can sing. Knox processes the stylings of Earth's 500 best vocalists and says that he will be king. He walks off, and John, Nate, and Behrad pass him and go into the dressing room, and with some physical convincing D'Smore says that he gave the same song to Zari and Knoxacrillion, and since Knox will sing it first he will win. Behrad knocks out D'Smore with an airblast, and the three men leave.

Knox takes the stage, while Nate puts on D'Smore outfit and tells Knox to begin. Knox sings with a borrowed voice, and Zari realizes that he's singing her song. The audience cheers, and John tells Zari that it's not real music. Zari figures that they've lost, and John asks Zari while she told Maman that they can't last. She says that the thing they have is bound to end because it always does. John says that he wants it to be real, and asks Zari what she says.

Zari goes out on stage and sings a ballad from the heart about her relationship with John. John comes out playing a duet on guitar, and the audience applauds as they sing together that they've fallen in love with someone they shouldn't have fallen in love. They start to kiss when the song ends, and everyone applauds. D'Smore staggers out and accuses Nate of being an impostor. The votes come in, and Zari wins. Zari is the new queen of Da Throne.

Knox bows to Tari as her new servant, and the armada leaves.

Later on Waverider, everyone shares a toast to Tari's victory. She says that John is her boyfriend, and they both leave. Meanwhile Knox reveals that he's a tiny alien in the power suit, emerges. Mick steps on him, and then says that they need to find the spaceship driver, Kayla. He asks Ava what she thinks, and she says that it's an excellent idea.

Sara staggers through the ship and finds a man preparing dinner. He says that he's been waiting a long time for her.
