A Lot of Potential, Though Not Quite Fulfulling It

Unlike the rest of the girls coming to Hollywood with dreams of seeing their name in lights, Carrie Kevin (Sara Fletcher) arrives with a single purpose...

Wow. Let me put out there what makes this film great and what makes it less than perfect. Great things: Sara Fletcher, the acting and the directing/cinematography. Fletcher is not only a fun, quirky actress, but she is stunningly beautiful. Why is she not a huge star? She deserves more than a bit part on "Monk".

The acting in general is solid. Although there are no "names" attached to this film, everyone was believable and really took on their roles with great vigor. I was not convinced that the high school girls were really in high school, but beyond that it was pretty tight.

I really liked the camera-work and picture-in-picture. This could have come off as cheap or gimmicky, but it was done with such finesse that I was quite impressed by it. Bears Fonte knows what is up -- there was a fine line between style and overdoing it, and that line was never crossed for me.

The down side of this film: it needed an editor, either at the script stage or after the fact. The plot was not quite as tight as it could have been, and the movie ran too long. I think if the run time could have been reduced by ten minutes, it would have been fantastic and I would give this a 7 or maybe even an 8 out of 10. But for as much as I liked the style and all, it just did not have the pace it should.
