Episode 10.7

Some wealthy Brits are on a stag do to Saint Marie. One of them is the son of an aristocrat due to have a society wedding.

They go on a boat excursion, partying and drinking all night with the boat's captain Skip Marsden.

In the morning, the four revellers wake up on the boat worse for wear.

Skip is on the beach some 11 miles away from the boat with a harpoon sticking out of his chest. There is a dinghy nearby but the carburetor was not working.

DI Neville Parker has to figure out what possible motive any of the men had to kill Skip. Also how did Skip get to the beach when the boat was in one place.

This is a good mystery. The four lads use their connections to try to get off the island pronto. So Parker is on a race against the clock.

Trainee officer Pryce uses his street smarts to get information. It seems Skip was also doing a spot of drug smuggling as well.

How is there anyone left on this Island, One or Two Murders each Episode!
websterphreaky-7714914 March 2022
This Bahamian Island is WORSE than Chicago or New York City, there's at least one or two murders every Episode!! Hwo is there any residents left that aren't Dead or in Prison?! Never the less, I love this show, although it seems to be getting a bit too "slap-stick" comedy and some of the characters are out right annoying, like the Police Chief's daughter that's on the squad.

GPS doesn't work underwater.

Warning: Spoilers
Another good episode, but as my review title says, GPS doesn't work underwater, so there's the fatal flaw in the body dump scenario.

Great Ep for DS Cassell fans
alan-343388 October 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This episode is your typical Death in Paradise fare, but if DS Cassell is the reason you watch, you'll get to see her in her swimsuit going into the ocean. Plus the episode continues the internal struggle within the Inspector, trying to reconcile his attraction to Florence and his devotion to the position as her superior and colleague. She gets to reminisce of her childhood with brothers and playing board games, and is given the chance to have the spotlight for a short while and flash her amazing smile. We know that blossoming romances between two characters never end up great in the end, but it's fun along the way, right??

Guest starring Colin Ryan
safenoe13 November 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Here Neville struggles with his feelings for Florence, but she is completely oblivious to his emotions. Anyway, I wonder if there is a future for both of them together.

Colin Ryan guest stars in this episode.

Here a stag party goes wrong with commentary on the upper class and viscounts and being above the law. The ending was a bit of a surprise but still, worthwhile.

It's still a shame that Madeleine Dumas (played by Aude Legastelois-Bidé) was written out after just over a season. Why?

Would have been better earlier on in the series.

What's worse than a group of drunken Brits abroad? Answer a group of drunken, British posh boys with connections, abroad.

It's a race against the clock for Neville as he tries to solve the case I'm double quick time.

I thought this was an ok episode, it was a solid mystery, well acted, with a strong solution. Nothing ground breaking, nothing to get excited about, it was a much better episode for Marlon, and the guys played the holidaying Brits very well indeed.

Should they have perhaps used the recently transmitted two part series as the big finale, this one felt a bit dull in comparison to that, that was a tough act to follow.

Was Sean Gilder wasted in the part? I'd argue perhaps yes.

Thoroughly enjoying Little in the part, I truly hope he makes the decision to stay on.

A decent episode, 6/10.

A decent enough episode with indestructible board games
studioAT14 February 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Every year there is a 'DiP' episode where the budget has obviously run out and you get an episode without a famous face amongst the line-up of suspects.

This is very much S10's.

It may not have the drama of the two parter last week, but this was a good, if continuity poor, episode.

The potential romance between Florence and Neville feels like a rehash of the S4 plot between Humphrey and Camille though.

Still not great!

Warning: Spoilers
The 10th season of "Death in Paradise" started on a not so good note, but then got much better. After the episode in the hospital, the season has not gotten on back on the track though. The two-part murder story was decent, though not great for me. This episode is not very good either, it's definitely not bad, there is just nothing new here.

Let's start with the good aspects, shall we?

. The production values of the episode are great as usual. The episode looks and sounds fantastic. The acting is very good for the most part. Ralph Little is a lot better than he first started, Tahj Miles, Josephine Jobert and Tobi Bakare always give sincere performances. The guest stars are pretty good too.

. The mystery has some intrigue in it and there are a couple interesting turns. The ending is clever (Finlay being the killer) and really surprising.

But...

. As said, there is nothing new to the formula here. Everything in this episode felt like "been there, done that". There aren't enough twists in the murder mystery, the mystery did not feel that compelling at the end of the day (there have been much stronger ones) and the character work (especially for Ollie) did not seem the best either.

Overall, an okay, though not bad, time in paradise.

5,5/10 HK.

Unreal
Jip5814 February 2021
I was delighted to see Martins and Miller back in the previous episode. Priceless nostalgia! But this episode was terrible and unreal again. As long as you're not the murderer, you basically walk free with every other crime. Blackmail, extortion, cocaine rip-deals, obstruction of justice..........whatever. And how Parker got away with forgetting about his meeting with Catherine (ep.5) is really absurd. He should have been fired immediately. His sudden change of behaviour feels also very unreal to me. It failed to work with Ruby, and it does the same with Parker. Too little too late for redemption. The only thing that can save this series for me: Camille as inspector (with Richard as her virtual guide). And please STOP putting annoying people in the team, it doesn't work!
