A great example of how the anime can be without focus on Ash and Pikachu.

Now it has just been announced yesterday that Ash and Pikachu's journey will be coming to a close after the new 11 episode series "Pokemon: Aim to be a Pokemon Master" that starts on January 13 of next year and ends in April when a new cast of trainers take over in a new anime that focuses on the Paldea region. If you aren't sure of how the anime will be like after Ash and Pikachu's journey ends, this episode of Pokemon Chronicles is a good example of it.

Journey to the Starting Line focuses on new trainer Gilbert, who at first is pretty bratty and doesn't care for a Kanto starter Pokemon, and also thinks that Pokemon are strong only if they're evolved. A scuffle happens in Oak's lab and the other two starters, Squirtle and Charmander, to run off, leaving Gilbert with Bulbasaur. They managed to find the other two, but almost get in real danger until they're saved by Ash's Bulbasaur, which changed Gilbert's mind on how Kanto starters are and that even unevolved Pokemon can be strong as well. Gilbert chose to start his journey with his own Bulbasaur, saying goodbye to Ash's mom and Professor Oak. This shown a format on how the Pokemon anime can be without focus on Ash and Pikachu, and it's a pretty good example to go by if people are having doubts on it Pokemon can survive without the anime being about Ash and Pikachu's journeys.
