Besides her regular character of globetrotting Goldie Fisher, two of Leila Gorstein's recurring characters make appearances in this episode: Sockeye Sam ("Somewhat Intelligent Sock"), the puppet introduced in Sock it to me (2021), and Boxcar Dentist ("Wandering Oral Surgeon"), the hobo first seen in Today's Episode Bites (2021).
The user's manual for Bill's remote control (or "clicker") is titled "My Friend Clicka", a pun on "My Friend Flicka", a 1941 novel by Mary O'Hara about a boy and his horse. The book was adapted as the films My Friend Flicka (1943) and Flicka (2006), as well as the television series My Friend Flicka (1955).
At the time of this episode's broadcast, A Great Big Bunch of You (1932) had not yet been released on a Warner Bros. DVD or Blu-ray, though a restored print was available to view on the HBO Max streaming service. Likewise, Insect to Injury (1956) had not yet been released on an authorized DVD or Blu-ray through the Warner Bros.-King Features partnership. (It is presented unrestored here.) Through 2020, restoration efforts had yielded hi-def releases of the color Famous Studios Popeye cartoons of the 1940s, but hadn't yet released restored prints of the 1950s cartoons (though these cartoons are sometimes available in public domain releases).
