New York Archbishop Argento personally discusses the murder of a priest in his church, where paintings are being restored by a atheist professional and amateur-expert nun Agnes. The ritualistic MO suggests a link to the victim's activity as exorcist, and a culprit presuming to be demonically possessed. After determining that the priest's last patient lacks the self-control necessary to commit the murder, Malcolm consults with Martin, who in turn draws in Friar Pete, another patient at Claremont psych ward, expert in exorcism and fellow escape plotter. Malcolm needs their advice to deal with both diabolic mindset and hallucinogenic lead paint poisoning. Gil is duped by Jessica as she fears to bring disaster to partners and must step in to help JT, who finds prejudice compromises even leading police teams, not only confronted with Texan bigots.
