- This is the story of Manas and Hazel and revolves around a slam book. Manas, in his HS first year, a rowdy, bully, manner-less guy from a well-to-do family has a huge crush on one of his seniors Hazel, an HS final-year student. Manas is trying to express his feelings towards Hazel since last year when he was in class X but becomes completely numb when she appears in front of him. Opposite to his usual behavior, which is arrogant, short-tempered, shameless, and carefree, Manas finds himself shy, introverted, under confident when they both cross paths. His friends keep telling him to confront her and tell her his feelings. Some of his friends advise him not to go for it since she is a senior, from the science stream and the other seniors will bash him big time. There is an eternal conflict between the seniors and Manas. Manas fights with them like he has no tomorrow. And seniors are angry with him as he doesn't care about them. He, bunking his classes, uses to follow her in corridors, libraries, tuition routes, and so on, being unnoticed. He tries to send a friend request to her. His cursor is on the tab but he finds himself unable to click the Friend request button. One day, he roams around her class to get a glance at her when the seniors bully him and he gets into a fight. He doesn't want a fight in front of her and tries to avoid it first, but finally, he has to get his hands dirty there. Need to mention that he has been caught many times smoking on the school premises and his parents have also been called. Many a time he is found in the Varanda holding his ears. Every passing by chap makes fun of him and he also gets angry, but whenever Hazel passes by him in such circumstances, she never does that. Instead, he finds a mild surprise, a question, and a blank look. As if she has many things to tell him, and has nothing to say. She, in her silence, speaks the loudest and still he hears nothing that deceives him. This is the only time they both exchange looks. One day, Manas comes to know that his father has been transferred to Guwahati and soon they are going to leave this place forever. Manas becomes sad at first but consoles himself later. His friends then insist he proposes to her since he is going and no one can do any bad to him now. One guy suggests he give her a gift so that he stays with her forever. He goes to the gift shop and instead of a gift, he brings a Slam book, thinking that rather than staying with her, he wants to keep her with him forever. Another reason is, that he has no clue what she thinks of him, even she does it or not, and if she does that, what does she think about him? What is there in those blank looks and questions that she has asked him thousand times? So he goes to her and insists she fills it up. He also tries to tell her things he always wanted to, but fails. She buys some time and asks him to meet her at the cafe near their house. In the afternoon they meet at the cafe and talk. While coming back, Manas collects the paper cup she drank coffee in. Need to mention that he is doing it for two years. So he already has a huge collection of thrashes. While parting, he wants a handshake but she hugs him. She asks for the night to deliver the Slam book as out of school work, she couldn't write it. He agrees and says that he will collect the book in the morning while leaving the town since her place is on the way from his home. The next day, Manas collects the slam book from her gate. His mom teases him for her, to which he replies that she is a friend. Manas is in the new town now. He is busy with new things like a new home, new neighbor, new school, classroom, and classmates. Slowly he is getting familiar with them and getting familiar with the new town but he feels lonely at times. He misses her. Her moves, her hair in the wind, the meeting, the walk after the meeting, the last glance, and especially the hug. One day sooner, he opens the slam book and finds that many things she wrote are not that intelligible. It's mostly in poetry. But he feels good. One fine day, he notices a friend request on Facebook. He finds that it's Hazel. He gets excited and accepts. Immediately after doing that, he sends a long message in messenger. Before sending it, he tries to stop him from doing it, but out of impulsion he finally ends up doing it. He gets an instant reply. They start chatting on regular basis sharing almost everything they can. Slowly Manas is getting used to the new place and new friends. He meets a new friend called Neelam who starts showing interest in him but Manas never shows his interest, in her. Finally, the board exam is over and he asked Hazel to share her number on Facebook but Hazel doesn't reply to his text. There is no response from her and the last text from her was a month back. Manas tries to find her and her where about through his friend Vikram but it doesn't work. Suddenly she is all gone. On the other hand, Hazel and her mom were thrown out of their house by her father. All of a sudden, Hazel's life and priority get changed. She and her mom move to their old house in Meghalaya, somewhere in the middle of the mountains. They are struggling to meet the basic needs of life. Her mother starts working in a small tea stale and Hazel starts taking tuition just to meet their daily expectation. Now she is so busy in the new life that she is unable to manage time to think about Manas. Slowly time passes and she adjusts herself to that environment. It's been 3 years now; Manas and Neelam along with their friends are celebrating their graduation day in a Pub. Neelam tries to get close to Manas but he refuses and tells her the reason. Manas takes her to his house and tells her everything about Hazel and the Slambook. Meanwhile, Manas's mom, who was listening to him when he was telling his story to Neelam, decides to intervene and tells him to go and look for her. She also decodes her lines and tells him that the place she was referring to poetically is Meghalaya. Manas takes his bike and goes to Meghalaya for her but he fails to find her. He is demoralized, devastated, and lost. He comes back to Guwahati and tries to live a normal life but fails. Finally, her friend Neelam suggests he write a story as he uses to write earlier. So Manas decides to write a book. The book becomes an instant hit. One day he gets an invitation from shilling for an event. Neelam accompanies Manas. After the event, Manas takes her to the riverside where last time he came in search of Hazel. But miraculously, he meets Hazel there, who was visiting the place every day after she gets his book. There she tells him what happened to her in those last years. Neelam, understanding the situation, leaves the place. Manas finally hugs Hazel like the first hug they had years ago. And the story comes to an end.
