- The Past
A teenage Maureen stands in her family's backyard, and looks up at the stars through a telescope. Maureen vows that someday she'll see the stars up close.
The Present
Judy wakes up Maureen after the crash, checking her for a concussion, and Maureen relates to her daughter that Jupiter 2 crashes after SAR followed them through the rift. Jupiter 2 lost power and they crashed, and she tells Judy not to contact the others and give away their position to the robots.
Where they landed after ejecting, John and Penny are together. John throws anyway electronic that they have, telling Penny that anything electronic draws the robots like flies. Will is trapped in the tree, and reminds Smith to pull the batteries out of her wrist device as well. Smith finds Will's wrist device, broken, and tells him that it's off. Will tells her that the others survived.
SAR and its robots emerge from their ships
Maureen and Judy try to get the ship prepped for when the others arrive, and then realizes that the seat rockets are still armed, including the one she's sitting in. She has Judy confirm that the chair she's sitting on could go off at any and says that as long as she's seated, the rockets won't go off. If the rockets go off, they'll spray shrapnel everywhere, killing both of them from the blast and the shrapnel.
The Past
A teenage Maureen brings Baby Judy home, and Maureen's mother figures Maureen is upset that her pregnancy has interfered with her intention to become an astronaut. Maureen tells her mother that she's not staying home. Maureen's mother manages to get Judy to stop crying, and invites her daughter to try out the rocker she's using. As Maureen sits down, her mother tell her that there will be other missions. Her daughter insists that she's not going to risk orphaning Judy, Her mother says that it's sensible of her and leaves, and Maureen tells Judy that she'll figure how to be a mother and she and Judy are both smart, and they'll figure out.
The Present
Maureen tells Judy that they'll figure it out.
John does a recon and tells Penny that Jupiter 2 is 20 km to the south and is in good shape. He says that they'll head for Fortuna first, and get Robot and the engine. Penny asks her father if he saw SAR, and John tells her she doesn't need to worry about it. Penny tells John that she's glad that he's there, and he tells her to leave her helmet there because they need to go fast. As they leave, the helmet sinks into the bog.
Don looks for Debbie after taking off the chicken's tag, and it wanders off. He steps into a sinkhole that catches his boot. He pulls free and watch as his boot is pulled into the bog,
Jupiter 2 shakes as it starts sinking into the bog, and saliva links in the ejection hatch. Maureen realizes they're being swallowed, as some large creatures embraces the ship.
Will climbs out on a branch to get his backpack, and almost falls. Smith sees a skull in the bag, and Will explains that he found it in the alien city, and he needs it for his plan.
Don chases Debbie through the swamp, dodging the numerous sinkhole as best he can. A robot comes up behind Don and scans him. Don draws a knife and the robot bats him away, knocking him unconscious.
John and Penny find the crashed Fortuna and go inside. John confirms that the primary electrical bus has been severed, so the robots won't be able to detect them. He warns Penny that if two live wires touch, the robots will know they're there. They continue searching for Robot and find it trapped and impaled by a fallen girder. While John looks for a way to cut through the girder, Penny talks to Robot, which points at a string saw on her utility belt.
Elsewhere in Fortuna, a worm crawls along one live wire, its weight dragging the wire down to another live wire below.
As the creature slow consumes the Jupiter 2, Judy pressurizes the fuel lines and Maureen explains that if they release them all at once, it should punch the creature in the throat, making it release them. However, they need to reach maximum pressure without triggering the bleed off valve. She says that Judy will have to do it by fuel rather than use an electronic gauge that will get the robots' attention, Maureen describes the type of vibration to Judy, and Judy opens the lines. The pressure eventually bleeds off, and they can't do it again because there's no more fuel in the lines.
The Past
Maureen reads a Dr. Seuss book to Judy, and looks out the window at the stars.
The Present
The ship vibrates, and Maureen sends Judy to check it out. Judy confirms they're halfway swallowed, but the rear airlock is still clear. The girl refuses to abandon her mother, but Maureen tells her that she might not be able to go.
Smith tells Will to take care of his patients first, and Will tells her that her problems won't go away on Alpha Centauri. She says that her problem is people, and they don't bring out the best in her. Smith will find a place on Alpha Centauri where she can be alone, and the Robinsons deserve that as well.
John and Penny cut through the girder with the string saw, while the worm brings the two wires together. The power comes back on and Robot warns "Danger". John starts pulling wires, while Penny sees something odd on the airlock monitor. One John cuts the power, he grabs the video hard drive and warns that the robots will be there in 10-15 minutes.
Judy works out a chemical that will induce vomiting, and goes to get the supplies.
The Past
Maureen and Young Judy look at the stars through the telescope, and Maureen tells her daughter that she can be a doctor in space, because Judy can do anything.
The Present
Judy treats her injured shoulder, using a mirror.
John and Penny go back to cutting through the girder, and Penny asks her father about Vijay and Liam. She's torn between the two, trying to figure out which one is right for her. John finally bursts into laughter, and figures Penny is trying to take her mind off their current situation. They cut through the girder and free Robot, with a few minutes left until the robots arrive.
The creature swallows most of Jupiter 2, and Judy jams an injector into the creature's interior via the airlock hatch, wincing in pain at her injured shoulder. Maureen realizes that Judy was damaged in the crash, and Judy insists that she's handling it. The girl angrily says that she's the perfect child and didn't want Maureen to worry about her, and Maureen tells Judy that she never expected her to be perfect, but wanted her to live up to her potential. Judy says that she was trying to live up to Maureen, and it was hard for her living up to a dream that she didn't understand. Judy blames herself from taking Maureen's dream of being an astronaut. Maureen tells Judy that she didn't realize, and tells Judy to get out the back airlock. Judy refuses.
Judy finds a box large enough for both of them to get into, and solid enough to protect them from the shrapnel. She figures the chair's thrust will make the creature throw up the ship, and sprays the chair's release with CO2 to delay the release long enough for Maureen to get to safety. Maureen gets into the box with Judy's help, and the chair blasts free and causes the creature to throw up Jupiter 2. Mother and daughter embrace each other. Maureen smiles and says that it all began with just the two of them., and goes to get Judy a sling for her injured arm, and tells her daughter to rest for a minute.
Smith hears something coming, while Will gets to the backpack. He drops the pack, and Robot arrives and grabs it. John and Penny arrive behind Robot, and John says that they lost SAR and the other robots for now. Will takes his damaged wrist unit and the data chip in it as he goes
Debbie comes back to the unconscious Don and pecks at his ear, and Don wakes up and says that they should get away.
The robot that scanned Don plays back the recording to SAR.
