The collective budget of the movie is estimated to be around $120, spent on alien puppet materials, a phone adapter for a tripod, a microphone, a voice actor, Mtn Dew, and a half gallon of fake blood, of which only 1/3 was used.
The trailer tagline "Things get real" was simply a place holder as Joshua Armell couldn't think of a better line. It was eventually forgotten about during editing and was released as a part of the trailer. The tagline was later replaced in marketing. Other ideas for taglines include "Horror Comes Home" and "The Attack Begins".
Filming was planned two years in advance, but was delayed by a month due to constant rain and heat waves.
The film was delayed from it's planned August release multiple times throughout production, getting to the point where director Joshua Armell announced that it would be released sometime before 2020 ended. It was released 2 weeks before the end of the year.
The film was originally to be shot on a Canon EOS Rebel t3i, but the lights in the filming locations were so dark a standard IPhone 5 was used instead. The YouTube shorts were shot on an IPhone 5s. If another use hadn't been found for the camera, the budget would have become $420 and Joshua Armell's mother would have been credited as producer as well.
