It was suggested in the Liverpool Echo (10th August 1985) that Cher's appearance was almost pulled due to her being delayed, with the paper reporting:
"If Terry Wogan's chat show audiences always seem ready to laugh the man to thank is Felix Bowness. In front of the cameras Bowness is best known as Fred Quilley in Hi-De-Hi. Behind them he is one of the best warm-up men in the business and makes his exit when Wogan appears.
His secret ambition, though, is to appear on the show as himself - and he came close recently when American singer Cher was held up in traffic. Sadly for him she arrived in the nick of time after the producer had promised: "If she doesn't arrive in two minutes, you're on"."
