The 2017 Billboard Music Awards paid tribute to rocker Chris Cornell with a touching moment of silence on Sunday.
Imagine Dragons frontman Dan Reynolds led the homage, with an emotional speech about the late rocker’s life and legacy.
“Although tonight is a time to celebrate the music and artists of the past year, it’s also a time to recall a member of our community we lost this past week,” he said. “Soundgarden and Audioslave’s Chris Cornell was a true innovator. A musical architect and pioneer on the cutting edge of the Seattle grunge movement. He was a prolific songwriter,...

The body of the late Soundgarden lead singer will be flown to California on Sunday, according to The Detroit News. Cornell, who died last week at the MGM Grand Hotel in Detroit, will be interred at Hollywood Forever Cemetery.
The service on Friday will be private, but his family’s attorney Kirk Pasich told the outlet that “one or more public memorials will be considered.”

The Vampire Diaries is achieving seriously great things in its sixth season. Other shows, take careful note...
This review contains spoilers.
6.14 Stay
I’ve said it a million and one times, but The Vampire Diaries’ current season really is top-notch. This episode, one that could easily have leant on the nostalgia of Jeremy leaving, or the obvious emotional pull of Liz Forbes’ death, instead decided to be poignant and dramatic and funny and just interesting from a television perspective. It was excellent, in other words, and that’s worth noting on a show in its sixth year on the air.
It was billed as Jeremy’s farewell episode all week long, and Jeremy did exit Mystic Falls for an undeterminable length of time, but the bulk of the episode was really about Caroline losing her mother. But it wasn’t just about Caroline losing her mother, but also about Liz...

2.13 The Devil Is Damned
I've said it before and I'll say it again – Kol needs to stick around on this show, and he needs to have Daniel Sharman's face while he does. Season two of The Originals has done a fantastic job of making us care for some of the lesser loved Mikaelson siblings than we would have thought possible back when they were villains on The Vampire Diaries but, after this episode, it's clearer than ever that Kol is the linchpin in all of it.
He's the one it's possible to redeem for one, coming off younger than the others and thus far less of a lost cause. That's important in that it falls on the other characters to steer the narrative,...

The Vampire Diaries is hitting all the right emotions in season six. Now, if someone would just get around to rescuing Bonnie...
This review contains spoilers.
6.13 The Day I Tried To Live
The Vampire Diaries has trouble holding onto its bad guys, largely because its bad guys are often so well done that the writers have no choice but to offer them redeeming features, fold them into some sort of love story and keep them around for longer than ever intended. It started with Damon, but since then we’ve had Klaus, Enzo and a whole host of others.
Now we’ve got Kai, who has undoubtedly been a highlight of a very strong sixth season. From the moment he was introduced, viewers were demanding he stay, and now the merge with Luke has given the show an easy and relatively seamless way to have the character start to show some redeeming qualities.

Even though The Vampire Diaries slowed things way down tonight, there was still that sense of urgency and pending doom that makes the show so enjoyable to watch season after season. With tragedy looming around every corner- past, present, and future – the characters took a much needed time out to celebrate the birthday of their temporarily departed friend, Bonnie (Kat Graham).
As Mystic Falls’ resident supernaturals decorated the Salvatore Manor and baked the perfect cake, Bonnie wasn’t exactly sharing in the celebratory mood while still stuck by her lonesome in a perpetual 1994 prison. But, that didn’t stop the writers from turning “The Day I Tried to Live” into somewhat of a public service announcement on the power of positive thinking.
My biggest apprehension about the direction that the writers are taking The Vampire Diaries in is that they’re setting us up to fall for Kai (Chris Woods) in a very Klaus-like way.

Now that the merge has happened, the focus can turn to rescuing Bonnie after she hasn't been seen in a couple of episodes in the Vampire Diaries episode, "The Day I Tried to Live," but it may be a race against the clock as she seems ready to give up.
In this episode, Elena convinces Jeremy that Bonnie would have wanted them to celebrate her birthday. They and Damon try to send Bonnie a message after putting the ascendant back together, but the situation turns dire when they make an unsettling discovery. Also, Jeremy realizes it might be time to move on with his life and considers leaving Mystic Falls for good.

We all cope with grief and loss in our own ways.
On Thursday's episode of The Vampire Diaries, our intrepid heroes decide to celebrate Bonnie's (Kat Graham) birthday because it's what she would have wanted, despite her still being trapped in another dimension.
In an exclusive sneak peek at "The Day I Tried to Live," we see that Caroline (Candice Accola) has decided to focus her grief over her ailing mother and a disappeared Bonnie onto an object: a teddy bear named Miss Cuddles.
When Caroline and Bonnie were young, they got in a fight and Caroline buried Miss Cuddles in her yard.

Well, from the looks of these new photos from next week’s (not this week’s) episode of The Vampire Diaries, airing on Feb. 5, it sure seems like things will be getting emotional on the series. But hey, a little death and sadness is nothing new for our favorite supernatural friends in Mystic Falls, is it? In this upcoming episode of The Vampire Diaries, which is titled “The Day I Tried to Live,” it’s Bonnie’s birthday, and she still has not yet returned to the present, making Jeremy pretty set on not celebrating her special day, despite Elena and Damon insisting that they should. Eventually, the three of them are able to use the newly repaired ascendant to try to contact Bonnie, but, as you can see from the picture of the three of them above, it doesn’t exactly go as planned. Could they have unlocked some sort of other dark,...
