It's back? That's a surprise
Well this is a surprise.
I didn't expect Michael McIntyre to revive this format, what with the success of his show 'The Wheel' and you'd imagine wanting to actually go out and be a stand-up comedian again now restrictions have lifted.
But no, here he is, making promises about entertaining the nation that he can't always deliver on.
I think this first episode of the new run is rather safe. It relies almost to the letter on old features that he knows will go down well. It trades heavily on the affection we have for them already, and that's fine for a first week I suppose.
What will be interesting is to see whether he has anything new up his sleeve moving forwards. 'Saturday Night Takeaway' might be fairly formulaic, but there is the odd new gamble taken.
Will Mr McIntyre be as brave?
