But have no fear, Kickstarter is here. The website claims to be the largest funding platform for creative projects worldwide. The idea is a simple one. If you have a project, post it on Kickstarter. In exchange for donations, you give people a reward or experience related to your art. For example a musician can give away CDs or a chance to attend a concert. Or a filmmaker can give premiere tickets or an onscreen credit.
And if you're a modern day Lorenzo de Medici and fancy yourself a patron of the arts (or maybe you're just in need of a tax...

What do you do if you're an actor and you can't get cast because someone else is getting all your parts? Why not make your own movie?
That's what Jim Rothman did. The struggling performer bears a striking resemblance to the Hollywood A-Lister, Matt Damon. So each time he auditioned he'd hear, "You look too much like Matt Damon..." or "...Not enough like Matt Damon." Either way it was a lose-lose for Jim.
So he decided if no one else was going to give him a gig, he'd hire himself. Hence the short film, I'm Not Matt Damon. The 20-minute comedy was recently accepted into the Burbank International Film Festival which is taking...
