This film which I recently had the privilege to view is a classic example of what happens when film school students take too literally what they have learned.
Instead of developing an actual film what he's done here is put out a flick that imitates cinema rather than contributes to it.
Jim Jarmusch would not be proud.
The director would like you to believe this is a coming of age film. When in fact this is far from it. The movie takes itself too seriously, the pacing was horrific and there is no conflict resolution.
The movie is a self indulgent mess attempting to masquerade itself as cinema. I know my review comes off with a tinge of venom in it, but when you spend 5 years on a movie I expect at least an hour and a half of enjoyment.
This was not that.
