Wow...this movie is bad
zzzxxxcccvvv-4320220 June 2023
Where to even start with something like this? The whole thing comes across as a bad dramatization of a bad script of a fictional event. Its 2 hours too long. The story is complete nonsense and jumps around like TV show out of order. Every 10 seconds there is a scene of someone crying, looking at a monitor, looking at power point slides, looking at their phone. This over dramatization really hurts the film and ends up having the opposite effect that the director intended. The 3 hour runtime kills any type of suspense or momentum. I would gladly watch your average 4 hour Hindi film than this nonsense. Yes, there are a few cool cgi scenes but lots of movies have those.

3 hours of tik-tok
b-toshkov14 June 2023
That film looks like a tik-tok feed - every 15 seconds nothing happens. Nothing makes sense, but it is colourful. If you try to make some inferences about the overall plot from the random scenes you are about to end up in a very bad place. The thing that is really intrusive is how awfully incompetent are all totalitarian regimes in their propaganda efforts. That film is entirely composed of contradictory, incoherent propaganda symbols, they are not even developed into messages, but are very basic symbols. The CCP committee responsible for the production is strikingly unaware of national stereotypes and it failed miserably in trying to make a caricature or conveying some satirical effect. The positive ratings and generic reviews here are definitely bots.

Horrible plot, and horrible voice redubbing, and tons of chinese ideology
scotmac-130 January 2023
The redubbing of all the western speakers was horribly done. LIke a 1950s dubbing.

The plot is pathetic and most of the science is unrealistic.

And the typical "china is the center of the universe" is seen in the fact that the internet is supposedly now centered in beijing! For a country that BLOCKS a good portion of the internet, that makes no sense whatsoever.

The acting is horrible, and every scene has to have chinese saving the day. I assume the chinese are fed up w/ hollywood constantly have westerners save the day, but at least hollywood doesn't totally denigrate asians, for the most part.

The redeeming feature is that the effects are pretty good.

17000 Foregin "walk-ons" get paid $425 per day, 5000 native Chinese "walk-ons" get paid $6 per day, druing the making process of this movie, made by, made in China
googleistheboogieman22 June 2023
This is a Chinese patriotic film dedicated to show common Chinese folks something, but filmmakers messed up. I, as Chinese myself, Mr nobody lived in China, was offended by the wrong doings of the filmmakers.

In film, "No Chinese will be left behind, all Chinese will be saved". But in reality, Chinese are less equal compared to foreigners, by the standard set up by "elite" class in China.

Do the same work, but Chinese get paid way less than foreigner, that's discrimination. This just reminds me, when I graduated, looked for a job as young engineer in China online. The same Chinese company, jd:"Engineer wanted, related major in uni, 1-3 years in the field, requirement blabla... Salary 3000 CNY(less than $500)". Another job opening for "Senior engineer": "White male, major and work exp are not required, just pretend to be foreign specialist, to get contract from government, salary 30000-50000 CNY($5000-$8000)". What a disgrace!

Read the background news about this movie, while watching it. I just feel sad, what's more? Anger! It feels like, China is not a country, it's a colony, somehow Chinese people are less equal to foreign people.

"All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others."

the story is a bit boring
teddy-8668624 January 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Disadvantages (personal views are welcome to discuss):

--There are too many dark lines, and too many foreshadowings that cannot be answered in the whole film, which affect the rhythm of watching movies and make people confused

--The happy jokes interspersed intensively in the first half are slightly blunt

--Spoiler countdown in scarlet letters is open to discussion, people who haven't seen 1 may not get the meaning at all

-- The abrupt and domineering speech of the female diplomat in the middle is too weird and unnecessary for the senses, and it is a bit deliberate. The old diplomat's part at the end makes sense by comparison.

--The overall plot is still a bit clichéd, and the routine of failure-sacrifice-backup plan-sacrifice-success at the last second can almost be guessed, and this routine is more than one time.

Compared with the amazing feeling brought to me by the plot of the protagonist team in Wandering Earth 1, which was so hard work and hard work, but someone else turned on the engine, it is a bit different.

Boring....
bvmjdt28 January 2023
I am typing this review during the movie and will leave after penning this review. It's really quite terrible & too boring to watch till the end.

There is little development of the characters in the movie, so much so you don't care what actually happens to them. This sadly includes Andy Lau.

The overuse of cgi also makes it's difficult to watch. The story is not well developed and everything happens too quickly and makes one detached from the movie.

The start of the movie has some action scenes. Even with the heavy use of cgi, it is less than impressive.

The 2nd part of the movie tries to inject some touching element but again it's a yawn..... Felt being conned to watch the show by the good ratings. Next one must see the review of the lower ratings before deciding to watch a movie.

One clap (out of 10).

poor scenario
chrisdoit7 February 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Its good special effects can't cover up its poor scenario. Deliberately sensationalizing is very theatrical. The actors always had better choices but they wouldn't. In the last scenario of the movie, all the people sent to launch the root sever were died, but the leader still believe they could finish the job to save the world. It's very very ridiculous. How could one person be insisit it in that situation? IThis movie is only for the patriot. But if the movie including in too much political issues, it won't be a good creation. Only for the patriots to see. So I rated one star, I think the rating is way to high.
