Ahoy Mateys - Season 1 Ends on a High Note

Instead of renting a cottage for their vacation, Lucy instead buys a rundown old sailboat and has Viv and the kids do all the work to restore it.

This episode is among the best of the black-and-whites. The premise is strong, the jokes are great and the script builds beautifully with several long funny scenes.

Lucy gets drunk with power after buying the boat and orders everyone around (she does look cute in her nautical togs). Jerry has a very funny line when he tells Lucy, "You better give us a rest, Captain - or you're gonna have your first MUTINY!".

The scene with her and Viv trying to get the mast inside is a good warm-up for the big comedic centerpiece where they are adrift on the rocking boat with Viv seasick.

Viv's claustrophobia is once again mentioned in the script and it's a riot to see her repeatedly guzzling the seasick pills. Lucy's bit with the meatballs is also awesome but the topper is Viv asleep in the rolling chair while Lucy tries to avoid being run over. It's definitely a highlight of the season and one of the last truly stellar bits of physical comedy the ladies ever do together

This is the only episode (besides LUCY AND HER ELECTRIC MATTRESS) this season that does not have any guest stars in it.
