The Ood pilots the ship they're in, and it warns that the vessel is under increasing strain. Awsok tells it to press on, and the Doctor asks Awsok what the Ood is doing. Awsok figures that the Doctor wants to know about Division, and explains that leadership has fallen to her. She explains that Division started on Gallifrey as a group to ensure the safety of the galaxy. As their horizons broadened, Division kept pace, and guided and shaped events. Awsok says that some civilizations needed to be helped, and Division stepped in.

2021 Earth
The Lupari shield protects Earth, and a ship falls out of formation. Karvanista warns the other Lupari that the shield is breachable, and it tries to contact a ship that didn't respond to species recall. If it flies in, it can seal the breach in the shield.
Bel is on her stolen Lupari ship, and traces the distress signal to a monolith in space. As she approaches it, Karvanista contacts her via the ship's ready and asks why it didn't respond to species recall. Karvanista prepares to activate hyper recall, and Karvanista contacts her and asks who she is since she isn't a Lupari. Despite Bel's objections, the remote hyper activates and the ship goes to hyperdrive.
Vinder teleports onto the monolith and finds all the people who went missing, gathered around glowing obelisks. Swarm addresses the people and tells them that they are space while he and his kind are time. He says that the people are both their plaything and their power. The people and the obelisks dissolve into ash, and Azure and Swarm figure that now they can connect with "her" again, just as they planned.
Awsok shows the Doctor a projection of the galaxy, and the station they're on, which reveals that they're on the cusp of the multiverse. The Doctor is astonished at the interdimensional engineering required, and figures that Division is using conversation plates that allow them to exist outside of the known universe. She realizes that the station is unstable because they're moving, and Awsok explains that since the old universe is ending, Division is moving their operations to a new universe. Awsok is there to collect genetic traces into her seed vault, to bring it to the new universe.
The Doctor insists that the old universe isn't going anywhere. Awsok tells her that the universe has been over since "the virus"--the Doctor--got loose into it. The Doctor couldn't leave well enough alone, and Awsok tells the Doctor that her morality was always her weakness. She admits that Division engineered the Flux to destroy the universe, and the Doctor with it. However, the Doctor interfered with the Flux, and Awsok says that the Doctor inspires.
Awsok realizes that the Doctor doesn't remember her time with Division, and the Doctor remembers Awsok as the one who found her, brought her to Gallifrey, and raised hr. Awsok admits that she's Tecteun, the woman the Doctor used to call mother.

She says that she can save them, and the Ood brings up a map of all that remains of the universe. The Doctor realizes that the compression is moving in toward Earth from all directions, and the Ood explains that Earth will be the apex of destruction. The Doctor hears a whispering noise in her head, and tells the Ood that what is compressed can be uncompressed. The Doctor determines that the whispering is coming from an antique watch in a display, and Tecteun comes in and says that the Doctor has found it.

Dan says that they have to go to Liverpool.

The Doctor wonders how much of her life has been lost, and Tecteun asks what she would give to know. She tells the Doctor that she can go back to the old universe and die trying to defend it, or rejoin Tecteun and Division. Kate tells Prentis that she sees him, hiding in plain sight, but she dug deep past Prentis' forged past and the "accidental" deaths. She figures that Prentis is a hostile alien, and tells Prentis that she's wearing a psychic manifest shield to protect her from whatever Prentis uses on the others. She threatens to expose Prentis if he doesn't stop.
Later, Kate goes to her flat and unlocks the door. She realizes that she's set off the timer on a bomb attached to the other side, and runs and get clear as it explodes. Kate calls Osgood, tells her that she has to go dark, breaks her phone, drops it, and runs off.

Williamson takes the trio to a chamber at the heart of his extraction site. He says that he has built defenses for humanity against the destruction to come. There are doorways going to other places, but Williamson says that in the last days the universe is in flux and the doors go to different places then they did originally. He tells them to touch Doorway 9, because it leads to endless death. Williamson fears that he can't save anyone. Something smashes on the doors.
Karvanista and Bel go to the bridge, and confirm that the shield has been turned off. Someone is boarding them.
