Wildly different crusades
freddy830 January 2021
(Crusade 1) Annie and Deacon are OOC here. Annie makes a unilateral decision after criticizing Deacon for doing the same. In the past the couple has managed to discuss issues with respect and support. It was painful to watch Deacon kowtow to an admissions director, forced to admit that he is "poor" by her privileged standards, and denigrate his professionalism by using it as a "sub-par" offering to please two women. Are there no private Catholic schools in LA? (I reference Catholic because that is Deacon's religion.)

(Crusades 2 & 3) It is the white supremacists' turn on the chopping block. The ramifications of a white supremacist killing a POC--and a successful LEO at that--will last some episodes, I suspect. I don't believe that Thomas et al made that decision lightly. Hope Luca rejoins his grieving team to help deal with this.

The conversation between Hondo and Hicks was also significant.

Iron cross is a nazi symbol?
spanaceu29 January 2021
Hondo states that the iron cross is a nazi symbol. Well, its not. It first appears un 1813, long before nazism or fascism appear. Like more that 100 years before. Get your history lessons right.

Shame more Nazis weren't injured

Dealing with a relevant topic these days, the team goes after white supremacists. Apparently some viewers feel that the show is attacking them. Says more about them than the show.

Touches on real life issues that have been ignored by society for too long. An eye opener.

There ARE other terrorists

So now Tinsletown has decided that the only terrorists in this country are white supremacists.

Disappointing

Warning: Spoilers
So we've all seen this a dozen times already. POC character gets some screen time -> character dies, because the showrunners are too afraid to actually kill off a recurring character. Why not kill of Deacon? That would have made impact - this way we'll see the main cast grieving over a character we barely knew or cared about.

I also don't get the hate for the deacon / school story. Sometimes couples don't agree and still some decision will be made. That's life.

Not buying it.

More stereotypical racially motivated division, perpetuated by the Hollywood propaganda machine. This episode was over the top, and quite frankly disappointing.

Terrible Episode
wrenleung14 June 2022
Warning: Spoilers
The episode begins with a long, over budget chase. They catch the bad guy and they realize there's more of them. No plot. The private school scenes were more enjoyable than the main story. And they kill off the nicest character in the series.

Same old refrain
spikeluvr11 February 2021
This season all the police shows have been interchangeable. If you watch one you don't really need to watch the others. The stories are virtually identical. COVID is killing everyone no matter how healthy they seemed. Racial attacks are everywhere, every day. The perpetrators are always White men. The particular cops on each show are all heroes but all the other cops anywhere else are violent and racist. If only all the "other" cops were as honest and caring as the lead characters on this show. I'm not saying these attacks never take place. I'm not saying there are no bad cops. But no one but the most fanatical ideologues want to see the same story night after night, show after show. It's time to broaden their storylines and get back to telling unique and interesting stories.

sad

The white supremacist thing was alright but it's interesting how it's becoming more common in tv to show women emasculating their men. Couple go to a fancy school, they get home and the guy says their child isn't going.. wife complains about his unilateral decision and then proceeds to lecture him about things and finishes with a "if she gets in, she's going" lol.. what was she saying again about unilateral decisions? And did we forget he's the bread winner of the house? Dude wtf is going on? I think I'm getting old in my late 30s because my mother would never speak to my dad like that. She could voice her opinions no problem but in the end he was the one who had the final say.. just because he was the man of the house, the leader and the one busting his ass off to pay for everything. Where's the respect a man deserves for the sacrifices he makes? Well, that's a good example of how women are these days, I guess..

Change? What Change?
jupiterscreen28 January 2021
Again, I am not at all familiar with how police and SWAT units operate. But it vexes me as to why SWAT members would be operating unmarked vehicles seperately, in a high speed chase. The realism of this show is not really drawing me in anymore. And todays episode did me in. God forbid we have two, main characters both being black. For awhile now we have watched the the other female character bust work hard to make SWAT. And when we FINALLY get to see her kick some serious a$$ in the field, it also ends as her last episode. So tired of seeing black characters made to be fodder. They're either (more times than not) traitors, a person of high importance only to be killed.... etc. $#!+ needs to change!
