Calm down trolls

It wasn't that bad. The discussion about race relations was organic to the story and the characters. Had some good laughs in between. Matthew A. Cherry knew what he was doing when he directed this episode.

Excellent Episode

Wade and Shannon's relationship took a fun turn I've never seen before. What do you do when it's your birthday but you've just started dating someone? The writers set this dilemma up and then worked it out in a happy and unique way. And Wade's "exit walk" was hilarious.

They also brought up a social issue regarding race that was well worth looking at through the lens of these characters' friendships. A deep issue, yet they maintained the show's lighthearted humor, and its likability, all the while introducing ideas that were well worth becoming aware of. We all want to treat our fellow citizens with as much respect and understanding as possible, and when helpful ideas are presented in such an easy way, it helps us all up our game a bit. So -- many, many thanks to the writers, producers, and cast for this one.

Keep 'em coming! This is a fun journey to take with this group of folks.

Your goal is to make me laugh ...

We have enough suffocating WOKE lectures elsewhere ... we don't need more from an otherwise charming sitcom ... if I wanted lectures (and I don't) I'd watch The View ... stick to your mission.

Get Woke Go Broke.
ghcheese4 December 2020
So let's just make TV uncomfortable by making people hate each other. It was better when they lived all happy as neighbors that got along and didn't care what color they were. Because it doesn't matter. But than you have to act like idiots and tell people that if your black people treat you different. You know why people treat you different? Because you ram this crap down our throat. And dumb people get mad and don't know how to act anymore because their afraid they will say the wrong thing. Woke People are idiots. Just treat everyone good around you and shut up.

Has this show jumped the shark ?
tronads-005665 December 2020
I like this show, it's not ground breaking, but Its harmless, charming and often amusing. Until this particular episode came along. It's clear the script writers have been instructed to write a woke storyline and it was just terrible. It felt rushed, awkward and forced. It was just total garbage. If this theme carries on, I'm done with the show. Please return to all the characters being best friends and make the show fun again.

Counter productive.

Warning: Spoilers
If this "woke" episode is supposed to preach to the audience about stereotyping black people, it did a horrible job with the angry black woman.

Just stop it

I don't need a silly sitcom to do a social commentary and go all woke on me. I turned this episode mentally off in my brain.

It's the color of your son?

So young black kids can't pretend to be a cop or a soldier saving someone from evil people? Sad and stupid. Also completely unnecessary. We are trying to escape.

Are you serious?

This is a 30 minute comedy. We don't need a lecture - we need a few laughs.

Let the dramas, documentaries, and news do the lecturing.

Especially if you can't "get woke" without being so unbelievably cringey.

Stupidest fraking episode ever!
davekrebs4 December 2020
It's like all these freaking sit coms feel the need to put some woke liberal crap in to fit in today's bs. The gun thing was so stupid. Who in their right mind would shoot a little black kid for have a blue transparent squirt gun?! You dip sh!ts. Oh and let's discuss white guilt and micro aggressions. Let's check all the boxes. Just like Biden's cabinet pick. Don't worry about qualifications. Just as long as they hit all the progressive check boxes. I tolerated this show at first because it's fun and I like the actors but then throw in all the uncomfortable in your face liberal bs.

Enough is enough. Had 6+ months of shutdowns and this is all the writers can come up with?

Grax9920 December 2020
Been really enjoying the show with its' easy charm and engaging characters until this woke nonsense.

Not needed.

This episode has broken the relationship I had with this show & not sure it can be mended as I'll now always be wary they are trying to force an agenda on to me.

What a shame.

Woke lecture

So much for a sitcom if I wanted a woke lecture I'd turn in CNN.

Disappointing forced episode.
savannahbath30 December 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I am a huge fan of The Unicorn series as a whole. I enjoy the character development and the quirks that make them endearing. That is why this episode was such a colossal disappointment. From the word go this episode was poorly executed narrative on what could have been a great conversation on racial issues between a diverse group of friends.

The only line in the entire episode what was well timed and even touched the heart of the issue was his line "Ben won't even go on a walk without his ID." Awesome, we are on the right track and heading toward a great conversation about race.... nope... The rest of the episode was a confusing hodgepodge of "Grrr, I'm so angry" and the weird juxtaposition of white people aren't doing enough but they are trying too hard and that Forest and Delia are too stupid to have an actual conversation with their friends so they should just sit down and shut up.

Swing and a miss on what should have been a softball of a topic for a cast of this caliber.
