Those fond of crime thrillers/dramas are usually ready for intense mind-twisting and appearance of ugly stuff including dead bodies - at least. And if you are getting tired from the ones coming from big nations and prevailing in big TV and Internet channels and/or would like to see your own actors and local places in connection with crimes? Then you should demand the creation of "own" respective stories.
Swedish and Danish ones are world-famous, but Svartir englar was my first familiarisation with an Icelandic creation. The 6-episodes series deals with 2 major cases, and in spite of some clichés and some predictable moments, the characters and performances are pleasant to follow, supplemented by distinctive Icelandic nature. After all, benchmarks for creating a crime story must have been difficult as Iceland with its isolated location and population of 320,000 is one of the safest countries in the world...
