- William Horner, an ex-aviator, endeavors to steal the plans of a new high-powered aeroplane made to the specifications of Government Aviator Stewart. The machine has been ordered by her government from Miss Gertrude Martin, proprietor of the Martin Auto and Aero Co., where Stewart is employed as aviation expert. Horner is Miss Martin's cousin, and because of this relationship many of his peccadilloes are overlooked. In the course of the photodrama there is a magnificent series of panoramic effects taken from high altitudes showing the tremendous utility of the aeroplane in modern warfare, and in one portion is shown an actual espionage incident from the present European conflict, wherein after spying out the enemy s forts, harbors, warships, etc., the aviator returns to earth by means of an exciting spiral descent or "corkscrew volplane." A mysterious "General C," in reality chief agent of the enemy's Secret Service Bureau, works hard to get the precious plans, first instructing Horner to obtain them by fair means or foul, and then offering Stewart the tremendous bribe of $275,000. The feature is replete with exciting incidents, including Stewart's hazardous jump from his aeroplane on to the top of a swiftly-moving railroad car, his uncoupling the car in which Horner rides in fancied security, whilst the train is in motion, and when Horner dismounts to anxiously inquire as to the stoppage of his train, Stewart quietly regains possession of his purloined plans, runs to his waiting aeroplane and brings back the precious papers to the hands of his beloved Gertrude.—Moving Picture World synopsis
