About as good as a one-hour show about the White House could be.

This PBS show manages to cram in 200 years of white house history in only one hour! This is an amazing feat--as you'd think the show would seemed rushed and incomplete. However, it comes off as quite the opposite--like a leisurely stroll through time. It's exceptionally well made and interesting throughout.

The film covers the major highlights in the building's life. First, the creation of the White House is discussed--and it was finished in 1800. Then, a discussion of the War of 1812 and its burning was covered--as well as the building of a new White House afterwords. Then, various refurbishments were discussed. Along the ways, the various presidential highlights are discussed--and many of the highlights are letters from presidents, first ladies and staff--which are read by various movie and television stars. This, combined with the lovely music, make for a very memorable program--one you should try to see if at all possible.
