A series about the life's and love of international students in a dorm with the odd touch of humour. I may be the wrong demographic for this but overall not funny to me and reminds me of a poor American sitcom. I personally found the show "So Not Worth It !"

Fun and Delightful Series That Is Sure to Tickle Your Funny Bone!
spasek29 July 2021
First of all, I love the uniqueness of this series. Bringing in an international cast of actors and actresses, all of whom, quite obviously either live in Korea or are from Korea. I love how all of them (American, European, etc.) are fluent in Korean, giving the series a very authentic feel. All of the inflections and syntax and pronunciations sound dead-on to me! I guess I'd have to be fluent myself to notice any peculiarities or inconsistencies.
The series is about a group of college students who are all from somewhere else (America, Australia, Trinidad, Thailand, Sweden, etc.) and living in the dorm for international students.
The stories are mostly episodic with stories lasting only one or two episodes with a few minor storylines carrying over into subsequent episodes.
Pretty much all of the performers are very good--to--excellent. Carson, Se-wan, and Hyun-Min are the strongest, in my opinion, with very good performances from Minnie, Youngjae (Sam), Terris, and Joakim (Hans). Shin Hyun-Seung (Jaime) is good but tends to come across as a bit wooden at times. You'll notice that most of the characters use the same name as the actor/actress.
We have fairly typical scenarios of college kids trying to navigate life, studies, and love. Sometimes, they fumble and trip over themselves and others, and sometimes, they find ways to be there for each other.
My only real "knock" against the show is that I wish they didn't use a laugh track. We don't need to know when to laugh. Most of the laughs are pretty obvious, and the show would be better without it. But, that's a minor thing which won't prevent me from watching.
All-in-all, this is a fun series. It's only 12 episodes long, but it's quite obvious that more seasons will be coming, which I will be looking forward to.
If you're looking for a short series that is fun, with likeable characters, that isn't too heavy or overloaded with melodrama, you'll enjoy this series!

The series was AMMAAAZINGGG!! The diversity of the cast made the sitcom a lot better, every community was represented. The cast were really cute and funny. I can't wait for another season! I definitely recommend watching it!!
From 3 to 6 within 1 year: Why I changed my rating.

On June 20, 2021, I wrote the following lines as a review:
"I have no clue what this was and I felt way too uncomfortable watching this series. It's like watching an inside joke - it's funny but I just don't get it. 3 * for diversity and creativity. I guess."
After having watched this series I tried to figure out what it was about. Also, the style itself was very unique to me and I am used to watch international movies and series, mainstream and independent. Apparently I wasn't prepared for this Korean type of sitcom.
I gave it another try on a lonely weekend and that was kind of a turning point to me. Watching episode after episode it kind of developed from uncomfortable to comforting without really understanding the Korean style elements of sitcom.
After a third watch I really could feel the international cast. Now, I want more. I hope there will be a second season. And I will dig deeper into Korean entertainment.

Yes, the laugh track is annoying and unnecessary. Some plotlines go nowhere, and some of the main cast don't get enough focus (and some get too much). But after watching all 12 episodes, I was invested in these students. I was most impressed with the multicultural cast that actually doesn't go out of its way to highlight this fact. You don't have Carson speaking with an American accent. Thankfully Hans doesn't do anything too Swedish. I get that these actors have lived in Korea for years, but I'm curious just how easy it is for a foreign student to move to Korea and pick up the language?
Additionally, I wish they hired a Korean-American for the role of Jamie. The actor is good but he was the one character I would have expected to be one who sounded like a Western person, who was returning to their homeland for the first time in a long time. It doesn't ruin the role (I'm pretty certain they hired a Russian actress to play his American mom in the one episode she appears in), but there must have been a capable young Korean-American actor who could play the role.
I also wish the season was a bit longer. 12 episodes seemed too short. They don't go through an entire school year and I don't think they highlighted enough of the main cast. From the early reception, I could see Netflix pushing for a second season, and hopefully, that's the case. There is a lot of areas to improve and I'd like to see how things progress for most of the cast.

THIS IS AN AMAZING INTERNATIONAL SITCOM
gamerhv18 June 2021
Ok so i just saw the 1st episode and i loved it. First of all I love the diversity in the cast. The characters are so hilarious. I think this is gonna turn out to be a really good sitcom. Each character is unique that's what makes this drama great they all seem interesting in their own way. I hope this gets good ratings if it does than maybe we can get more kdramas with such diverse casts. I for one am a fan of all the main cast. As an aghase I am impressed with younjae, s acting he did really well and Minnie to nailed it even though this is the first drama she has acted in. Hyunmin also did great by the way I think his character is my favourite. Carson was amazing I loved her parts in the first episode. Sewan played her role so well. That guy u played hans was also good. I can't wait to see the other episodes. That Jamie is hiding something I can't wait to find out what it is. Ok so guys just go and watch it. I hope yall like it.
Cutesy Comedy Centered in International Dorm Room
PalmBeachG22 May 2022
There are a couple of characters that you will just love. This is a cutesy comedy centered in an International dorm room - each with their own story and "hook ups" within the group. I got a laugh out of the blond haired Chicagoan who was cast as a kind of a punk or thug type who eats all the time like a pig. If you ever visited Chicago at the Taste of Chicago where everyone stands around eating at parking meter's that have been turned into tables stuffing themselves with ribs you will appreciate the casting (I am from Chicago burbs so I can relate). Also the adopted Korean who grew up in the states as the son of a famous actress was so funny and a joy to watch. The local Korean who had a mother that never got married but had kids with numerous different father's so they all looked different ethnicities was hysterical when he received as a gift a pair of Michael's Special Edition gym shoes from the adopted Korean actress's son. Then there is the Swede who follows rules to the tee. It is a light hearted comedy that you should enjoy.
I really wanted to like this more....

I love the premise of this, and was really looking forward to seeing how they presented the idea of an international dorm at a Korean college. Unfortunately, they decided to take the very worst parts of "international" sitcoms, and just have everybody talking in Korean.
The canned laugh track: yuck, the stereotypical characters: yeah, the jumping around from place to place with no real development of relationships: boring.
The only thing that saves this, is that the actors by and large do a very good job with the bad opportunities given them. I have no problems with the actors whatsoever.

Not that worth it.
dreamlikediana22 June 2021
Honestly, this would have been better as an unscripted reality TV show as to what Korean and international college dorm students are actually doing than a drama that looks like it's catered to middle schoolers or high school teenagers.
Let's not get into all the 10 star ratings on here... It's okay, but it's not amazing.
It's watchable if you're bored and multitasking, but like I wasn't all that intrigued by it. I was really hoping they'd offer more. I had really high expectations for this. I'm pretty disappointed.
I just really couldn't get invested in it, the humor was really immature. The laugh tracks really took away from the overall experience. I felt like it was lacking plot. Now I feel like I'm repeating myself because what more can you say than, "It was okay."
If you go to Reddit, you'll see a lot more trustworthy reviews than here. This could have had so much potential, but it fell flat and just to me.
Honestly, felt really cringey and I didn't even want to finish it.

This is a fun and quirky show. I love the fact that the cast is very diverse! All the main characters have great chemistry too. I'm looking forward to seeing more of this friend group, hopefully in the next season we get to see lots of development between and among all the characters. I think this series has the potential to grow big.

Warning: Spoilers
Sorry I really don't know how anyone can give this a ten it's cringe worthy the canned laughter every five minutes was totally unnecessary and made an unfunny moment even worse the female lead was so annoying ripping everyone off to get money I know it's a sitcom and not real but I just could not carry on watching they should have a proper program showing a real dorm now that would be interesting.
Sincerely speaking

I was excited becoz I saw the girl slapping the guy with Kimchi in the teaser and I was so excited for it, but it was beyond my expectations 😂 it is so funny and the couples are cute. Also the guy called Sam is so cute and funny I am so in love with him I think his real name is Choi Youngjae, also the kiss scene was so cute🤧 I hope they will do season 2.
Not Good Enough

Korean Drama "So Not Worth It" is a decent try to create an American sitcom with a Korean setting and an international cast.
However, where it fails it's at the comedy element. The story was not funny and the jokes were lukewarm. However, there was a happy, energetic feeling to it, and the friendship part was pretty interesting. The romance, on the other hand, was predictable and, even though the main one was cute, the other ones were not that great. The ending, in addition, was open.
Finally, some of the performances were pretty good, others got better as the series progressed.
So, overall, 4.5 out of 10.

Another My favorite Korean drama, this series is very fun to watch you don't need to think about the story cause this Kdrama is something like sitcom, I love it it's very fun to watch.
Jamie and Sewan OMG they are so cute please I can't, sam and Minnie too, their chemistry was so cute and superrr good, Very very very Recommended series. Hope there be season 2.
When the series was end I was like, I need more this series was so fun and funny, and after watching this now I watch a lot of Korean drama. When Jamie and Se-wan kissing that was super cute and I was screaming (ahahaha), cause Jamie it's so cute and he was like a soft boy.

Lives up to its name

An attempt at Korean sitcom that falls short on directing, acting, and lame jokes. It doesn't just lose in translation; it's simply not funny. And the laugh track is so non-Korean in nature it's wince time. An obvious attempt to Americanize Kromcom... and that's something that's really not needed.
Kromcom is popular in America because it's different than American sitcoms (which for the most part have been pretty ridiculous over the years... with occasional exceptions like Home Improvement). This show is no improvement on what Korea normally offers-- heart warming and humorous romance comedies that are KOREAN in nature.
Americanized Kromcoms? Nothankyew.

This show changed my life
aamdabam18 June 2021
This show is one of the best shows I've ever seen. It changed my life. I used to be lazy and living with my parents with no future plans. Now I have two degrees and working towards getting my PhD all while running a very successful online business. I'm literally typing this from my Bali vacation home next to my European boyfriend who I will likely get bored of in a week. Really recommend it!!
