Where was the story?
chris-nilsen848 July 2021
Great graphics and animations but when I thought I started to understand the storyline it was over. I've been waiting awhile for this one and expected much more. (yeah I have played all the resident evil games)

Too short, just a cut up movie
jsucie12 July 2021
This was ok. If you've seen other Resident Evil animated movies, this won't surprise you. This is basically all it is; a RE movie cut up into 4 chunks. If you're truly going to do a RE series, it has to be longer than 4 episodes. 6 at the very minimum.

It still is impressive CGI and I'm sure it probably is very cost consuming. My hope is that enough people will watch that they green light more episodes because there is a lot of story to tell in this universe if done properly.

Could be good. But... nah
mrouttt13 July 2021
First, it's way to short.

Second, sometimes the story seems to become interesting just too let you dissapointed few minutes later.

Third, the animation seems to come out of a PS3 - Xbox 360 game. I mean, any cut scenes inside Resident Evil 2 Remake, which are made inside the game engine, is way more appealing than any scenes on Infinite Darkness.

This was suppose to be a series inspire by Resident Evil early games, not a single moment feels like it.

There is a lot a work to to do in the second season to improve all of it.

Story without storytelling
shawnyu6413 July 2021
Individual scenes weren't too bad, the overarching plot and premise are okay, and CGI was quite good. But when sequenced together, it was very hard to watch. There was no setup, no development, no climax... everything was flat. Even as a RE fans who finished multiple games and know a few things about character and plot, it was impossible to care about characters and what's going on. And the plot just went on and on and on without inciting any emotion when watching it. Even in one of the big conspiracy revelation, it felt like "uh, okay" at best. It's a huge missed opportunity because again, individual scenes and overall premise wasn't bad. It just poorly presented as a whole.

It was fun

But very short and shallow.

Resident Evil needs a new screenwriter.

Short but OK
gabriel_sanchez15 September 2021
In tt13173456, Leon is sent on a risky mission to find out who attacked the White House. Claire is conducting her own private investigation too. And zombies, of course.

This series feels like a film split into 4 short episodes. Everything happens too fast and the plot is straightforward.

CGI is as expected.

I recommend it to fans of the RE series and zombie-movie fans in general.

Capcom please hire some new people!
AdrenalinDragon8 July 2021
A massive disappointment and a total bore. Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness feels cheap and ultimately unsatisfying as being a waste of time. Any monster action that happens in these episodes is very little and Leon pretty much hogs all the spotlight once again. What about poor Claire? She pretty much does nothing for almost all of it except spill out conspiracy crap. If only the story was actually interesting and had good dialogue and writing. Well got some bad news for you it's probably worse than the latest Resident Evil games. Heck, I'd pick any of the previous CGI Animated Films over this without a shadow of a doubt. At least they had some action sequences instead of this being a total snooze-fest. The finale was basically just Degeneration again. Leon and Claire only see each other for like 10 minutes and are dull as dishwater. Just awful and honestly the only things that I thought were mildly interesting in this were the zombie rats and references to the old games.

2/10.

Story over horror and action
nalindra-ferdinando8 July 2021
It's always a joy to see Leon and Claire together. The best stories are when these two are together. So it's no surprise that this is a good watch for RE fans. But the disappointment is that it's more focused on story and has forgotten to be more scary or to include cool action. This is where stories like castlevania scored which was perfectly balanced between story and action. But I am hopeful that if this season works that they will expand the story in future seasons with more episodes so not to rush the story at the expense of building suspense, horror and mix of action.

Watch if You Can't Sleep.
bbevis-4795412 July 2021
Resident Evil Infinite Boredom. PC mag said it well "Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness is like a terrible cutscene you can't skip".

The setup is okay enough in the first episode in regards to the story. Unfortunately after episode one everything is a constant exposition dump and no surprises are left instore unless your brain doesn't work. The pacing doesn't help either so if you're looking for some good fights, gore or scares look somewhere else.

I would say 20% the animation looks passable. The rest of the time I was distracted by terrible lip-syncing, a camera that lingers on characters with no expressions, camera angles that purposely hide characters faces so we don't have to see how awful it looks. You can tell this production was rushed.

The dialogue is another story. I think there was one or two lines that made me smirk because of how cheesy it was (mostly from Leon). The rest of the dialogue is cringe at best. The one scene on the submarine in episode 2 where Leon and we'll call him "obvious antagonist" because I can't remember his name. The discussion about PTSD and where fear/terror comes from is some of the worst writing I have seen in years. Episode 3 doesn't fair any better with exposition dump/falling asleep time and four rushes everyone together in a boring finale. The screenwriters should never write anything again.

The only pleasure I had watching Infinite Darkness was laughing at a characters questionable demise because at least it was like an analogy for how lifeless her character was. I know that sounds infinitely dark but the decision leading up to her death was infinitely laughable.

Infinite Darkness is an obviously rushed product with a boring story, dull characters, boring action sequences and bad animation. I am a huge fan of resident evil since I was a kid playing the original PlayStation game, and I would rather watch Resident Evil the Final Chapter than have to sit throw this turd again.

One last note I forgot to mention...after the first episode I fell asleep before the end of each consecutive episode. Each episode is only a little more then twenty minutes so if you can't fall asleep then I highly recommend Infinite Darkness. Two points for sleep-aid!

Short but with great potential for more.
The first season is short but there's a chance for great work here. I feel Leon and Claire act like they would in the games / have the look down. Only thing missing for this show was the "Fear" aspect. It's not scary at all but the design of the things people go up against all look great. Add some more tension in the future seasons and this has something that could be really great.

It's a tv movie not tv series

Netflix spilts this 80 mins TV movie into 4 episodes series. That's cheating, I guess.

Will there be more episodes?
papacuba8 July 2021
As a true fan of the series I Loved this show. My only problem is why only make 4 episodes that are about 24 min long? All 4 episodes pretty much equal out to a full movie. They have 3 animated resident evil movies so why make this a pointless short 4 episode show? It's weird but who knows maybe they're making more episodes.

Good for what it is.
Brent_P11 July 2021
Yikes! Not sure what all the 1s and 2s are about for the ratings here, but perhaps the expectations were too high for many.

I was expecting really just to see essentially a four episode cut-scene of what another RE game would be and that's pretty much what it is. Also, my expectations were as low as they could be due to the previous RE motion pictures and other animation entries. If you're expecting something ground breaking or something fleshed out like Netflix's "The Kingdom", you are going to be disappointed; however, if you just like RE games, the lore and tropes then it's worth a watch. Speaking of lore, this cut scene, I mean show, does seem to have a few inconsistencies with the some of the previous characters, but it does appear to be canon taking place between RE4 and RE5.

Lastly, only being four episodes...I get the feeling this is just a test bed to see how well something like this is received much like Castlevania S1.

Disappointing, lack of creativity, logic is seriously flawed
jynnm8 July 2021
Resident evil has such a strong game IP but like any other great games, when it comes to movie/tv series adaption is just a big let down. First of all, 10 year old kid could have come out with this drama plot. Such predictable. To matter worse, it certain scenes just makes no sense literally (Especially last episode). Perhaps this is more for those who have yet to expose to RE (resident evil) IP but come on, as a director/producer, you could've done better especially now there are so many films about zombies that has better plot than this. As an asian, am proud to say Japanese are the pioneer and leader in the anime industry but it's regrettable to say they are behind the curve when it comes to developing shows like this (with western culture element). Seriously, i hope the director/producers of this film see this and think hard about it. I understand from a business point of view it will expand the user base by exposing them through this tv series but it won't get any traction if the tv series sucks (basically your ROI is not profitable either, might as well spend that marketing budget for players to buy your games) P. S: I love RE games, but seriously if you want to make tv series or movies about it please do it properly.

The poorest Resident Evil to date...
moorek16 July 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I started out liking this. The opening scenes and motion capture were well done. Not outstanding but watchable. I like the way scenes from previously in the series come back with a different perspective later. So I sat down and watched all 4 episodes. Sadly everything about this series makes no sense. I know it is a zombie series but the poor plot and writing really have little to do with the plot. Here are some key ones:

*Secretary of Defense is somehow able to deactivates all of the White House lights and security (and backup generator) while his underling then somehow infects multiple people. Yet the underling (Jason) was with everyone else as far as we know the whole time.

*The sub is sent in supposedly to find evidence. Since the Secretary of Defense didn't know Jason and Shen May were planning on leaving the sub then what was the purpose of the rat bio weapon? Did they think the sub would be captured and the contagion passed on? Once the first rats appeared, it is likely the sub would self-destruct. With all the crew being killed then who set the self-destruct and sent out the mayday?

*How does killing the whole crew make Jason and Shen the good guys in this?

*Since the purpose of this trip to China is to get the chip then surely there would have been a better way to smuggle it out. What if the President hadn't agreed to this activity? What if they picked other agents - like a bunch of Asian agents who speak Mandarin? Couldn't Shen just go home to visit her grandfather?

* We see Jason shot and bleeding out. How did he not die?

*Who blew up Shen's grandfather's house? Leon says Jason but that makes no sense. Why would he do that?

*If Jason was just going to cause fear by transforming and thus didn't need the chip then it makes sense it didn't care if blowing up the building. So why blow up the building in the first place? In fact why go to China at all - just transform at a conference.

*Jason is in China but then in a very short period of time is back in the USA. Equally fast Leon and Shen back in the USA and running through a tunnel. Is there teleportation in this universe? They get from China to America in the time it takes to get Claire from her motel room to her captive room.

*The size of the facility. Where did the Secretary of Defense get the money to build this multi-storied zombie factory? And why is it just under the Andrews Air Force base?

*Although the facility was destroyed, there is tons left. Easy to see what it was designed for. So why is Leon pretending he's going to stop things from happening again? There will be a huge government investigation.

*Why not release the chip? He hates what had happened to Raccoon City so why wouid he hold back the information?

So oddly I did like it even with all the terrible plot conditions.

The show was great but they could have done something better than this
loky-9275013 July 2021
The show was great but they could have done something better than this I recommend that you only watch it if you are a fan of the Resident Evil series and want to know more about Leon And Claire, even though the series was more focused on Leon than Claire.

Little bit rushed and predictable, but has some good potential to be a good series we needed!
rotlk4s8 July 2021
The plot was okay but predictable, really similar to Degeneration. Liked the new characters but they literally killed off every single new characters they have introduced except Wilson. And I am almost sure they're gonna make S2 cuz they could've just made 2hr movie but they introduced as TV series, therefore there's a hint that the story's gonna continue as however that Wilson connects to Tricell. Not bad but not as good as I expected. Felt really short and rushed tbh. There could've been lot more action and plot n stuff but they just rushed everything through.. Still has some good potential to be a good series we needed!

Laughable beyond comprehension
Natte_Nate8 July 2021
What is this? The writing is like that of a 13 year old. Extremely cringy one liners in the most awkward situations and so many plot holes. I forced myself to watch all the episodes because I played the games but this is just so bad it made me laugh uncontrollably several times at how stupid it is.

For the fans of Resident Evil videogames
fahimmkhan8 July 2021
Just finished all 4 episodes in one go. They could have released it as a movie though but hey it's new concept and hopefully this will branch out and have more seasons for the RE franchise. Now as for the anime, definitely this is not the best but it 'seemed' to get better after 1st episode, mainly being the character movements, especially the walking was very unnatural other than that all good. I think the story started after RE4, it was solid and not complex. Don't expect a lot of action like other RE anime but had a good mixture of both. Overall pretty good, has a great potential and hoping more seasons will pop up soon.

We can't blame all upon Netflix this time.
alkeidesv9 July 2021
If infinite darkness and the CGI movies told me something about Japan is that they can produce incredible products based in the nature of their environment and circumstances.

But dear god, when they tried to mimic the action thriller Hollywood western style is the most nonsensical and idiotic thing you can consume ever.

Corny, ignorant, boring and underwhelming.

With this intro music, I had some suspicious thoughts...
erhanipekciler9 July 2021
I love resident evil series as a movie and also anime movie, I watched them probably hundred times and sometimes still I watch 'Tokyo simulation' on YouTube.. Anyway if you are a fan like me,you have to give a chance to this mini series but don't expect too much. Good animations, super realistic characters but really bad lip sync nice to see Leon and Redfield.. I hope to see Ada Wong again...

Fun Fact: If You Approach Leon From The Right He Will NEVER SEE You Coming....
James_Denton11 July 2021
... because his ridiculous hairstyle covers that side of his vision!

It would appear the majority of the money spent on this animation was put towards the animation, which is fantastic! But... why didn't they also spend some money on getting a decent story to match the fantastic animation??

It wasn't great.

Trimmed Down but full of Potential
guntherguy8 July 2021
Full Disclosure: Huge RE fan.

While the review says 8, I would say more 7.5 but didn't want to round down because I do believe it's worth a watch for fans. This being said, someone who is new to the universe will most likely be lost and the various hints to the broader story won't have any affect.

While we get a solid story filling in the gap between 4 and 5, it's safe to say that there just is not enough. The pacing is lightning fast and characters suffer from underdevelopment apart from Leon and Clair (staples of the franchise). However, it's great fun and shows every bit of Resident Evil goodness trimmed into a 4 episode miniseries that I hop goes on to a second season ending in RE5. Stylish in presentation with great CGI (although two scenes stood out to have odd voice sync) gives us all the gory details and interesting set pieces. The only thing that really bugged me was that brisk pace and a story that could've really blown the mark away had it been given 6 or so episodes instead of 4 to really give some more context and character development and allow all the beats to carry the weight they needed to really hit it out of the park. Overall, a solid watch that will be a fun time for fans, and a bit of a head scratcher for casual viewers unfamiliar with the franchise.

Wish there were infinite episodes
AaronRush99 July 2021
I'm a pretty die hard fan when it comes to the resident evil franchise and this series is my favourite out of the res anime world the animation itself is unbelievable just didn't expect it to be only a few episodes with short run time but this has potential to be a long running episotic show which I be looking forward to in the near future.

A total disaster in my opinion
psben31 July 2021
I was very excited about resident evil infinite darkness unfortunately it was a total disaster in my opinion. It was boring, the story line was below average, the whole thing felt rushed.i should had known better since it was an Netflix series. They always messed up something.

The more I watched it i was saying to myself every production decision to every line of dialogue to character choices, WHY???It made no sense at all.

A big let down for resident evil fans.

Also,as few other ppl pointing out. Why 22 minutes each episode instead of a normal 30 minutes. The whole thing felt rushed and lazy.
