This episode kept you guessing what the 'nexus event' in it was. It's a less predictable story structure and is an improvement in my opinion.

A darkly comical whodunnit involving the OG Avengers!
mizbanazir25 August 2021
This was, by far, the most interesting "What if..?" episode. It gets to the point right from the beginning and keeps you engaged all the way to the end. The pacing is perfect! It's fast-paced and yet it did not feel rushed at all! It's quite suspenseful and adheres to the classic murder-mystery genre involving the OG avengers.
Unlike the first 2 episodes, the humour in this one was actually improved. The comic bits are really funny and it is quite evident that these bits have been basically used to cut the tension and dail down the dark tone of the episode. Hence, it sort of felt like a dark-comedy.
The only issue i found with this episode is that it becomes slightly predictable after a point. However, there are other minor plot twists that pop up after the "big reveal", which kind of negate the overall predictability of the episode.
This was a risky episode with so many things that could have gone wrong but it deviated from that landmine and delivered a total blast! Brilliantly executed and something different from MCU!

The best one so far

This episode was really something else, something I wasn't expecting, by far the best episode yet. I loved how they made something really different and unexpected with Fury's Big Week, with each episode this show gets my attention more.
A good way to show what would happen if the avengers initiative by nick fury failed.
prathamstha25 August 2021
The episode showed one possibility where the avengers died prior to the loki attack. Loki anyway entered earth and was about to bring his full wrath with his army. We could easily imagine what happened to loki afterwards.
The villain in this episode was not easy to expect and the development of the episode with black widow was also very intriguing. The villain's motive to have performed his deeds was also convincing.
So overall, really liked the episode and it really was a good what if.

Not perfect, but still fun

Some moments seemed a little off and some things were really strange, but it was still very fun. I like the inclusion of several characters in the final scenes! I love who it was that was actually killing the Avengers.
Better episode.

LOVED it but the RUNTIME should've been MORE.
MandalBros-525 August 2021
What I liked in this episode is that they've shown us so many references from the entire MCU within a very short time. They've recreated the moments from Iron Man 2, Thor, The Incredible Hulk & Avengers with some twists. And that's the reason this episode deserved more runtime.
It suffered with the same problem that episode 1 did. In episode 1, it was not much necessary. But, for this episode it was mandatory as there are so many stories in this one episode. They've showed us all of these within just 27 mins. If the runtime was more, then it would've been awesome.
But, overall I loved it.

Whodunit!
neil_schaler27 August 2021
Better than the first two, it was well written and came to a satisfying conclusion.
But solving the mystery of whodunit reminds me of some 80's films and tv programs where a tidbit of information is dropped and only the writers could have possibly solved it with what they gave the audience.
Overall the top of the heap, which isn't saying much.

Much better than previous 2 episodes

Much better that I am compelled to write a review for it.
Except for some jarring jokes and that Natasha's character doesn't look like Scarlet Johannsen + some lacking voice works (Tom doesn't even sound like Tom / Loki...), pacing and plot wise is pretty entertaining.
I like the mystery aspect of it and that Black Widow was much of a drive in this episode compared to her own stand alone movie.

Warning: Spoilers
Much like last weeks episode, 1.3 is a wild swing of an episode, dramatically changing the outcome of "Fury's big week", a week in the MCU where three potential Avengers were all identified by Nick Fury.
Beginning with the day that Tony Stark (Mick Wingert) and Nick Fury (Samuel L Jackson) sat down for a doughnut, the outcome of that meeting changes dramatically when the cure given to him by Natasha Romanoff (Lake Bell), doesn't save him and instead kills him. Later that week, when Thor tries to recover Mjolnir he's killed by Clint Barton (Jeremy Renner) who doesn't understand how he released the arrow and who turns up dead himself later that day. Finally, the Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) dramatically explodes at the point when General Ross (Michael McGill) is trying to capture him. Someone, or something, is working through Fury's planned Avengers team and it's up to him, and Black Widow, to discover the truth.
The artwork on this one was a little different to the previous episodes, looking a little more cel shaded than what we'd seen before, still really good though and capturing the likeness of the actors well. There was no vocal performance that let the episode down this week too, unlike the last ones, with Lake Bell doing a really good Scarlett Johansen impression. That said, I don't think that I was ever convinced that Stephanie Panisello was Liv Tyler, but at least her performance was alright.
Storyline wise I really enjoyed it, even if perhaps it gave away it's culprit a little before it should have done and I really like how that tied back into old comic lore, without really betraying the MCU world that we've seen. I liked the humour, from Coulson, Fury and with Loki, who (ironically) comes to Midgard to avenge his brother's death.
The best I can say about this one, is that I'd like to have seen a lot more of it, both plot points from during this story and what happens next.

Episode 3 was absolutely awesome and more different than the movies . Hank was the main villain in what if . And loki comes to earth to become king of es-tu but Steve Rogers and captain Marvel will make a great team to stop Loki just like 2012 Disney marvel avengers. I can't wait for more episodes of Disney marvel what if . I hope there's gamora episodes and maybe a thanos episode of him snapping his fingers but this time it was vison who snapped his fingers and saved the avengers himself and stark lived .
Incredible

"Diplomacy"
mhorrighan25 August 2021
The blurp for the epsiode cracks me up. Loki using his "diplomacy". LOL Well, yes but actually no. (Oh, boo - they changed the blurp.)
Last episode was very good, this one is just excellent fun thanks to "helloooo, trickster god, hi!" at his best. Wouldn't have surprised me if Loki had been behind it all and then showing up honestly wanting revenge for his successful plan, because it's Loki and he's like that.
Except for the Avengers (Tony) dying, I'd be okay with that timeline. Carol would clean the planet with Lokis face, Loki would quib about it the whole time and a good time would be had by all. Win-win-win, 10 stars, sequel please.

My favorite episode so far
rcga-4886025 August 2021
The story was great. Included facets of the MCU we haven't seen in a long time, brang in comic elements, and didn't just have me saying "Okay so if this happened, this would have happened." It just told a story, that was a "what if," but the way it was told, chronologically brought a lot more intrigue and suspense to the table, compared to setting it up like a regular MCU movie. Only 9 stars because the animation wasn't as great as is was in episode 1. But it was pretty fantastic. This show keeps using animation to its advantage, and seems like it won't stop. Animation takes a long time, but you sure can do a lot more with it than in a regular MCU project.
Good episode but don't make a murder mystery and drop no clues
harry-3451828 August 2021
This episode is good in concept and to an extent in execution however the pacing is still a massive issue. This episode is basically a murder mystery and it doesn't work because they don't drip a single hint until right before the murder is revealed. Any suspense that could've been there isn't because of the lack of clues. The acting is good but this episode is just weak.
Finally a good episode
invictor25 August 2021
So far the series has been too goofy and felt like it was targetted for kids, but this episode has renewed my expectations. After Carter becoming the most powerful hero and a goofy Star-Lord who can redeem any character for the sake of the plot, this episode presents a more intriguing premise that got me hooked from the start. I hope they keep it up with the upcoming and probably darker episodes.
This is Horrifying and I Love It

Warning: Spoilers
This episode is amazing! It's dark, but it benefits the overall tone if the episode.
I did not see the twist coming, but that isn't to say it didn't come out of nowhere. And props to Micheal Douglas here, too! He already did a good job voicing Hank Pym in the original 2 Ant Man movies, but here? He manages to make the character feel like a genuine threat to be scared of. And the motivation makes sense, too!
More props go to Lake Bell, who managed to give Natasha that same personality with a little more added in!
The music is amazing here. Whenever one of the Avengers dies, the music perfectly conveys that something is not right.
I won't spoil anything else for you. You have to watch it yourself to truly enjoy this amazing, yet horrifying, episode. This shows had a good streak of episodes so far! Let's hope that streak keeps going.

HALF GREAT, HALF OKAY
alcantaraj-1659425 August 2021
The first half of What If's third episode, which has more Black Widow, is great and actually better than the entire "Black Widow" movie. As for the second half, the twist feels forced while the ending is predictable.

I haven't been impressed by the previous entries of this series, but after this episode you got my full attention.
This was almost a murder mystery , a "Whodunit?" type story where Earth' Mightiest Heroes were dropping like flies.
It was amazing, actually. I hope the next episodes are as good.
