At this stage TV ratings were published with only the Network Top 20, meaning programmes on the minority channel of BBC2 were extremely unlikely to feature. The release of Top 10s per channel began in 1981.
Although Michael Keaton receives one applause break and a few laughs, the majority of his routine receives just polite chuckles, with Des doing most of the laughing, and the studio audience silent. While the audience seem warm to him, they also seem unable to relate to a lot of his material, which references specific American personality types and expressions largely unknown in the UK, as well as old American movie stars who are lesser known. When he returned to the show in Episode #21.8 (1998) it was as an established Hollywood actor.
