The Mandalorian

Summaries

  • The Mandalorian rejoins old allies for a new mission.

Synopsis

  • In the opening sequence, the Mandalorian (Pedro Pascal) tries to repair his broken down ship the Razor Crest en route to Corvus. He takes the help of the Child telling him exactly what to do and what not to do. However the child causes an electric short by doing exactly what Mando asked him not to do. The Mandalorian and the Child then head to Nevarro for repairs for his ship after the Mon Calamari repairs in the previous episode proved clearly insufficient. They meet Greef Carga (Carl Weathers) and Cara Dune (Gina Carano) there, who have since turned the planet around and are acting as marshals to keep Nevarro safe. (There is a brief sequence during which Cara Dune subdues robbers/bandits on Nevarro and collects their loot which she intends to return to the rightful owners. She also rescues a ferret like animal which was going to be eaten by the bandits. She later keeps the ferret as a pet.) In return for the repairs, Mando agrees to help Carga and Dune, as well as Mythrol (Horatio Sanz) in destroying an Imperial research base on the other side of the planet which they say has only a skeleton crew operating it. The Child is looked after by a new school built on Nevarro, and endeavors to steal macaroon-style cookies from a boy using the force during a class.

When Mando and the team arrive at the research base, it appears more than just a skeleton crew are manning it with storm-troopers patrolling the corridors. Intending to blown the entire base up using the natural lava flows it sits on so that black market gangs cannot steal the weaponry stored there, Carga asks Mythrol to deactivate the lava cooling system in exchange for reduction in his sentence. While trying to escape after having deactivated the lava cooling system they come across a chamber filled with vats of what appear to be cloned bodies. The scientists in the chamber attempt to destroy the evidence, but Mando uncovers a recording from Dr. Pershing (Omid Abtahi) that reveals he was using the blood of the Child, which contains a large 'M-count' (Midichlorians) to harvest the clones. Storm-troopers soon swarm the team and they are forced to escape before the lava overheats and destroys the base.

Mando flies from the base to retrieve his ship, using his jet-pack, whilst Carga, Dune and Mythrol steal a storm-trooper transport. A chase ensues between the transport, driven by Dune, and rocket bikes manned by scout troopers. With some difficulty Carga and Dune kill the scout troopers, but then TIE fighters launched from the base chase after them, disabling the transport's cannon. The base soon explodes due to the overheating of the lava. As the TIE-Fighters close in on Dune, Carga and Mythrol, the Razor Crest piloted by Mando appears and destroys the Imperials.

With his ship repaired and Nevarro secured, Mando heads for Corvus to track down Ahsoka Tano. The New Republic visit Carga to investigate the incident, with the pilot (Paul Sun-Hyung Lee) saying "something is brewing and we need to put a stop to it". He then speaks to Cara Dune, who reveals she was from Alderaan and lost everyone after its destruction. In the final scene, it is revealed a mechanic (Ryan Powers) working for Greef Carga had placed a tracking beacon on Mando's ship. Moff Gideon is informed of this as he watches construction on a Star Destroyer of new Imperial mechanized suits.
