The ranching lifestyle is threatened by economics and a few young ranchers retaliate, with disastrous consequences.

Warning: Spoilers
Stolen Horses is an excellent short film that I saw at the Best Of Alberta showing at the Calgary Film Festival in 2008. It is beautifully shot and the acting performances are very believable and solid. This film tells a story that currently is unfolding all over the prairies and the United States. The ranching life for many comes to an end as wealthy urbanites looking for authentic ranching getaways begin to buy up the scenic land. The story focuses on one young man and his friends as they come to grips with the changes this brings to their lives. Out of anger and hurt that their way of life is being stripped away from them, they try and steal from the people who are upsetting the balance, and have to live with the consequences.

Wonderfully shot film

A solid film. Stolen Horses is visually appealing, being shot in Alberta, Canada. Has a bit of the same feeling as "Brokeback Mountain" The film really captures the relationships between the boys and their struggle against losing their way of life.

Great performances by the entire cast, and great chemistry between cast members as well.

The story keeps you engaged, and the score wonderfully matches the tone of the film.

This being a short film, would actually play out nicely as a feature, there is a lot more story to be told here and the movie seems to only stretch the surface.

Definitely recommend catching this film if you are able.
