One of the wildest Pink Panther cartoons and certainly one of the best and most entertaining

'The Pink Panther' "The Hand is Pinker than the Eye" (1967)

Opening thoughts: While all of the previous 1967 Pink Panther cartoons were above average and more (even the weakest 'Jet Pink'), the batch did become a little less consistent after 'Pink of the Litter'. 'The Hand is Pinker than the Eye', a very inspired title, is a high point of the 1967 batch and the best Pink Panther cartoon since 'Pink of the Litter'. Also consider it one of my favourite Pink Panther cartoons overall, as the title of the review says it is one of the wildest and one of the most entertaining.

Good things: Everything. First and foremost, the animation is some of the most colourful and most inventive of any Pink Panther cartoon, while it is wonderfully wacky the simple elegance is still maintained too. The music is still infectious and it has a jazzy nature that appeals even now and works/ed wonderfully within the era too.

Moreover, the story is one of the more original ones of the series, and has great wild pacing that doesn't feel rushed and matches the wackiness of the gags and visual style. The gags are clever and hilarious too, 'The Hand is Pinker than the Eye' personally has always stood out as one of the more consistently funny Pinky Panther cartoons.

Pink as you'd expect is likable and is an effortlessly cool character with comic timing that comes across as very natural. The scenario does well for him.

Concluding thoughts: In conclusion, wonderfully wild, colourful and hugely entertaining, one of the best from the Pink Panther.

10/10.
