. . . stuck-in-a-rut blase boring nonentity that even his long-time companion Olive cannot differentiate between a crude robotic copy of the sailor-suited green leafy vegetable munching machine and the genuine original authentic allegedly living article. ROBOT POPEYE is not the kind of master gadget that would ever make the Earth stand still. He or it would be unlikely to significantly diminish a snail's velocity. However, the robot is enough of a sensation to become the butt of cruel jokes, as Olive and Popeye feed him empty spinach cans. This, of course, defies logic. Why would dirty, sharp-edged vegetable containers be of any more use to a synthetic Popeye than the former contents? Only a far smarter stand-in could solve this conundrum.
