The year after the landmark THE GREAT TRAIN ROBBERY. It's clear that the Pathe concern in France had seen the movie and were ready to learn some lessons from it. By and large they succeed, although they don't offer the detail work that Edwin S. Porter did for his movie. In fact, some of the details, like wigwams next to some of the worst totem poles I have ever seen, make it clear that Pathe's unnamed director was just handwaving the details through.
