The story was originally published as a four-part comic strip in 2001 for the Massapequa High School newspaper, The Chief. Only three of the four parts are known to exist as of 2020, and only the original art from the first part has been preserved.
The film was drawn in Microsoft Paint and edited in MGI VideoWave 4. The original video render was an MPEG 1, which had a resolution of 320x240. Producer/Director Rich Drezen saved all the Bitmap images created in Paint, and after discovering that they could be scaled to 1080p and 4K without any noticeable quality loss, the decision was made to restore this film and its follow up, "All in A Day's Work" (2005). These restorations are included in Drezen Media's Blu-ray and DVD release, "A Celebration of Luckyzilla".
Loosely retold in comic form in the Luckyzilla web comic, "Learning to Fly", which was published between February 1 through March 29, 2021.
