NOT a documentary
This is factually not a documentary, almost every single word uttered in this show is a lie, lies told to do what america does best, hide the truth and paint themselves as the worlds police out to stop evil on all corners and never doing anything wrong. When in reality their entire history is sticking their noses in foriegn lands where they arent wanted, have no jurisdiction, have no understanding of the local laws, customs, history, economy, struggles and proceed to do clandenstine operations that get thousands of innocents killed all to line the pockets of the people already in the top 1% back in the US.
I will focus on the first episode here as there are too many lies to fit more than one episode critique in this box.
Within the first 15 minutes we have multiple DEA agents talking about an unknown mover in the world of colombian cocaine, a man so secretive and so smart that for years he worked in the shadows and they had no information on him. They tell us it wasnt until the year 2000 when some random low level street dealer in new york somehow possessed the information to expose the entire operataion back in colombia and even give the name of the man at the top, Don Berna.
This is 100% bull. We know from the retired DEA agents that consulted on the creation of the netflix show Narcos, from books written by yank whisetleblowers and even from now declassified DEA files that anyone with an internet connection can find. All of those sources tell us that the DEA not only knew about Berna but worked with him in 1992/1993 during Pablo Escobars final years. Here is a direct quote from now retired agent Peña regarding Berna during Peña's time in colombia in the early 90's "We never signed him up as a DEA informant, but he was at the base and I could always tell there was something weird". This obviously doesnt tell the full story, this was an interview to promote Narcos, not an interrogation, he isnt going to risk being framed and imprisoned for exposing just how shady and immoral americas actions were, but even with this very safe, self protecting quote he still disproves everything that is said in this show about Berna being compeltely unknown until after 2000.
This "mysterious power player" they refer to is a man that they had had close ties to for almost a decade before this show claims they even knew his name.
This disgrace of a "documentary" goes on to call Berna "Escobars apprentice", again 100% lies. During Escobar's heyday Berna was the head of security for a rival cartel. The only dealings those 2 ever had was as uneasy trade partners and most of the time they knew each other was spent trying to kill each other. Meanwhile Berna was on a first name basis with DEA agents.
They then go on to talk about a "mysterious" figure coming into power after Escobars death.....more and more and more lies. There was literally nothing mysterious about it. Don Berna rose to the top in the power vacuum left after Escobar thanks entirely to the US. The show makes it sound like someone rose to the top in the shadows and it was americas duty to once again save the day, the historic truth of the matter is that the man who rose to the top was a mass murdering known crime boss who was only able to fill the power vacuum thanks to the money, weapons and even military equipment that the yanks provided him.
Again, the show paints Berna as an unknown quantity yet the only reason the infamous vigilante group Los Pepes was founded was because yanks gave Berna both money and weapons and agreed to turn a blind eye to his operation if he used some of the money and weapons america fed him to create a group to hunt Escobar while keeping the yanks unwanted names out of the public eye.
I would say its a joke but its not, it's a disgrace. A show with easy living yanks lying through their teeth about historic actions that got thousands of people killed. If you have any interest in this stuff I strongly suggest you read books about it but here is a quick summary of what the actual truth is.
1: America went to Colombia, a less developed, less wealthy nation and tried to enforce their then presidents moronic beleifs on foriegn land with no understanding of the laws, the culture, the economy, the struggles, the lifestyle, the traditions etc 2: They performed operations that were not sanctioned and they had no right, jurisdiction or reason to do them.
3: They worked alongside Don Berna paying him millions in USD and giving him entire arsenals worth of weaponry and military equipment 4: All of the above culiminated in a small scale war that got thousands upon thousands of people killed and it was not for "the greater good" it was not america "saving the day", it was mostly poor people in a developing country being killed in broad daylight becuase uncle sam could not profit off of Escobar's operation but by partnering with Berna they could line their pockets with money from the drug trade that they claim to be trying to stop.
5: Most of the blood that was shed during those years is on the hands of the yanks, they are not the "heroes" in this story, they are immoral, occasionally flat out evil, selfish, greedy and painfully moronic.
Not only does this "documentary" lie about literally everything but they don't even do it well since you can disprove all the bs they spout within minutes and the fact that they even have the audacity to create this to create a false image of america as "good guys" is not only 100% factually and historically incorrect but it is also an insult to the people that the dumbest nation since the dawn of time got killed just to further line the pockets of billionaires who dont even know their names.
