And here we are at the end. Crown Of The Ivory King. This is my least favourite of Dark Souls 2's DLC offerings, mostly because of that one area...that one area. The Frigid Outskirts. Does running through a barren wasteland, waiting around to not get caught in a blizzard that means you can't see where you're going, being wrecked by lightning reindeer who are some of the most annoying enemies in the entire game, and not even getting a bonfire before an extremely difficult and downright unfair boss sound good to you? No? Good, because that means you have some sense.
It's genuinely because of this one area that this DLC is getting a 6 instead of a 7 from me, because of just how much it baffles me that anyone, much less an entire board room, thought it was even remotely a good idea.
Ignoring that, the rest of this is still good. The other bosses are great, there are a lot of cool new weapons, spells, and equipment, and Eleum Loyce is another visually striking and interesting area to explore.
As the finale to the Crowns trilogy, it went with enough of a bang that I was satisfied, but good god. The Frigid Outskirts. Just don't bother with it, and you will be much more satisfied with your purchase. Trust me.
