War and Remembrance (1988)

Goofs

Part II

War and Remembrance

Edit

Continuity

When Eichmann is in Beck's office, his coffee cup suddenly changes from sitting on the desk to being in his hands.

Factual errors

The age of at least one of Rudolph Höss' children does not seem correct. He had five children in total: a son born in 1930, who would have been twelve in 17-18 July, 1942 when he was showing Reichsführer Himmler around, then a daughter, born in 1932, who was ten. His second daughter was born 1933, so she would still be eight at this stage, not nine until August, but the little girl Himmler picks up appears to be four at the very oldest. His last two kids were a boy born in 1937, who would then have been only five, and a girl in 1943 - not born for over a year after the time this scene was set.

Anachronisms

In a scene set in the early months of 1942, Slote suggests to his boss Tuttle and to van Winnaker that "the Germans are committing mass murder, perhaps genocide, under the cover of war." However, the word "genocide" was not coined until 1944, and did not enter wide usage until a couple of years after that.

Character error

Sammy Mutterperl looks far too well fed and in good health to be a concentration camp prisoner. A concentration camp inmate like Mutterperl, who has been in the camp system for years, would not be as heavy and filled out as actor John Rhys-Davies. even with extra food and better treatment as a Kapo.
