Plot

Seconda Parte

Moana

Edit

Summaries

  • Continuation of the biography of Moana Pozzi (Viola Placido), in which we are introduced to a triumphant woman, appearing in Italian public life and commercial films and her illness and subsequent death.

Synopsis

  • Moana and Antonio leave for the United States and secretly get married there. Once back in Rome, the newlyweds receive a surprise visit from Mima ( Elena Bouryka ), Moana's younger sister, who decides to move in with the couple so that Moana finds her an office job at "Diva Futura". Riccardo then convinces Moana and Antonio to keep their marriage a secret as it would damage Moana's image which, according to him, should remain the possible desire of all Italians. In the meantime, Moana is approached by Bruno Colella (Francesco Borchi), an aspiring director who offers the woman the chance to finally act in an arthouse film, but, precisely because of the director's desire to have Moana in the cast, no one decides to finance the film. Meanwhile, Schicchi takes Moana to Pasquale who offers to pay her any amount as long as he has exclusive rights to all of her films; Riccardo tries to warn Moana, but the woman, blinded by the possibility of self-financing Bruno's film with the money she earned, accepts Pasquale's proposal. However, Pasquale's working conditions turned out to be very degrading; the films are in fact shot with several sex scenes at the same time, inside damp and dirty hangars near a racetrack and in a decidedly squalid manner; all very different from how Moana was used to working on Diva Futura . Moana finally obtains the necessary sum and begins the production of Bruno's film which she herself titles "Love me", the story of a girl who moves to Rome in search of a future by becoming a porn star and losing the affection of her father who, however, at the end of the film she wins him back by appearing on a national television program. Moana then receives a visit from a transgender woman who previously identified herself as Mario, her ex-roommate, who stayed in Casablanca to undergo gender reassignment surgery and who now introduces herself as Maddalena. At a party organized for her birthday, Moana celebrates the end of filming Amami and takes the opportunity to present her autobiographical book entitled The Philosophy of Moana . Shortly after its theatrical release, Love Megets very harsh criticism, especially towards Moana who is defined as an icy actress. In the meantime, work distances Antonio and Moana further and further, so much so that the man ends up cheating on his wife with a porn star colleague of Moana's. During the filming of yet another hardcore film in Pasquale's dirty hangars, Moana falls ill following which she decides to go to a doctor. The doctor, given the tests, has few doubts: Moana has a liver tumor, partly caused by the poor hygienic conditions in which she filmed Pasquale's films and, above all, caused by the fact that many of her film partners were toxic they took drugs. Having failed to convince public opinion to accept her with auteur cinema, Moana decides to throw herself into politics by founding, with Riccardo Schicchi, Mauro Biuzzi (Giampiero Judica) and other members of "Diva Futura", the Party of Love . The electoral campaign was very successful, so much so that Moana received well over 12,000 votes, but despite this, the woman was not elected. Moana later returns home to find Antonio and the porn star copulating in their bed, sparking a furious argument between the two spouses which will end with Antonio leaving his wife. Later she Moana receives a phone call telling her that Antonio was in a car accident; he is well and it seems that the two can finally get closer, but Moana does not find the courage to confess her illness to her husband, thus causing them to drift apart again. Meanwhile Pasquale, after being dumped by Moana in the middle of filming a film, convinces Mima, nicknamed Baby Pozzi by him , to become a porn star herself, sparking the anger of Moana who argues with her sister who decides to continue on the professional hard road and leaving home. Moana receives an invitation from Pippo Baudo to participate in a RAI program , but the woman is now very consumed by her illness. Moana finally confesses to Antonio about her illness and the man decides to stay by her side and accompany her to Baudo for what will be her last public appearance. While waiting in the backyard for Antonio to return with a taxi, Moana imagines that there is a big party in her garden where all the people who have been part of her life are happy and happily celebrate with a pool party.
