It could have been so much better, but it the end MEDIOCRE!
tankace14 July 2016
Warning: Spoilers
Jurrasic Fight Club, OK first the title sounds like they try to combine Jurassic park and Fight Club in order to draw audience to watch this series and in the end they failed for the main host had make contract for a season 2 ,which never came! Soccer right I mean it has dinosaurs and prehistoric animals in general battling to the dead show what in Pangea went wrong and the series failed for real it was aired in 2008 and less the 400 users have rated!

The promise though it sounds good and some of the scenes are awesome it is just that some good scenes and I wanted more blood ,kills and the fights not to be interrupted every three to five minutes by the hosts in order to make an exposition to the audiences the characteristics of its animal. Give them to the start of the episode and then go straight to the combat ,with out cutting to shoot in the middle! The fact is that in that way to take away the thrill of the kill and when your series has the words "Fight Club" in it then you raise the expectations!

The other issues it that it has many scientific inaccuracies that even average documentary viewers knew in the late two thousands. For instance the raptors were covered in feathers , Nanotyrranous wasn't yet a confirm separate species (in 2015 in was revealed than it was actual a teenage T-Rex) and dinosaurs were good parents! Those issues could be forgiven if it was aired the late nineties and early two thousands but not in 2008!

Despite all these negativity it had some good things going for it. One the designs for some are very good especially those for Allosaurs, Ceratosaurus, Megalodon and Pachuranosaurus (this was way better than those in the Movie of 2014). And when the kills happen are well animated to. My issue was it was like the producers try to make the series like Pulp Fiction and it felt disconnected.

In short is a good way to spend your time and it doesn't need to be drunk to enjoy it ,but when you start with such premise and you get that then you can't say anything else than MEDIOCRE!!

The TV show format time forgot
sebpopcorn18 May 2009
Back in the mists of time there lived a type of television show that looks positively prehistoric to the modern audience. These shows represented animals as being like people. "Oh there goes Mr Beaver off to work at his dam, and here comes Mrs Beaver to make sure he hasn't forgotten his lunch."

This show is like those old dinosaurs. One dinosaur killing a female dinosaur is described as a "crime" and "domestic incident", for goodness sake! There's a lot of talk of crime scenes, murder and the like almost as though the producers would rather have been turning out a documentary about strangled hookers or something rather than dinosaurs.

You get a few scientists presenting their latest theories as solid fact whereas they are often conjecture or simply the most fashionable theory of the moment. There's plenty that isn't known about dinosaurs but the show doesn't give that impression at all. Everything is repeated again and again and I don't just mean in the way all shows do these days because of the advert breaks. No you'll have to hear the same information repeated over and over again as though they assume you are thick or they just didn't have enough material to fill the running time.

This is about as poor and tacky as the title suggests, but the CGI at least looks OK. Since this show has no real interest in dinosaurs beyond them being "cool at fighting" it's hardly a surprise that many of the dinosaurs featured have no association with the Jurassic period whatsoever. This could have been solved by calling it "dinosaur fight club" or something but they know most viewers will only care about seeing some fighting monsters. One final moan, if you are going to have an episode where the word Madagascar is said about once every two minutes it might be a good idea to check the host can actually pronounce it before filming starts because there's no place called Maddy Gas Car.

Terrible, awesomebro documentary
tyrantlizardthad20 February 2019
Please, don't waste your time. Just go watch Walking with Dinosaurs. If you've already watched it, rewatch it. This series basically just craps all over scientific accuracy. Sure, Walking with Dinosaurs made it's mistakes, but almost nothing here is accurate, as the dinosaurs are portrayed as vicious monsters practically thirsty for blood, always roaring and ripping each other apart when most of the time it's nonsensical (while Walking with Dinosaurs actually portrayed them as the real animals they are and the science was cutting edge for the time, while here, this series was inaccurate when it aired). Most of the fights don't make any sense and are not scientific, only made to appease action junkies rather then show how dinosaurs actually lived. It claims to be like a Dinosaur CSI where it shows actual situations shown with fossils, but these are highly exaggerated. The fights are much more violent and action-packed then what actually happened. It's like comparing actual human fights to the fights in the Mortal Kombat games. It's portrayal of dromaeosaurs (Deinonychus and Dromaeosaurus) is particularly horrendous, basically ripping off Jurassic Park instead of showing the beautiful creatures they actually were. The only episode that's actually pretty cool and that I would recommend is Deep Sea Killers, the only reason I'm giving this series two stars. But every other episode is a steaming pile of garbage that should be avoided if you want to learn anything.

Enjoy watching the dinosaurs, but please plug your ears...
PjofBumblebee20 November 2010
A sad show where what are often presented leading minds in their respective fields talk about wild hypothesis and theories rarely saying it could all be a "maybe", often boasting them with a "it's now believed" when it's not and pretending to understand everything from just a few clues (nearly everything is a "know" and not a "could be"). It's disgusting to see how they show no respect for science whatsoever, they don't even think about the fact that they are talking to people who don't have any kind of real knowledge about these subjects and could take everything they say as pure gold.

The CG isn't bad at all compared to other dinosaur shows (I refuse to describe them as documentaries) and the animations are kind of good too. In the end... since there is a huge lack of serious dinosaur shows and documentaries out there I forced myself to watch this as long as I could see decent CG reconstructions of dinosaurs. I also liked the few reliable informations they gave (even if I still have to double check them...).

If you want to watch this just please keep in mind that this isn't something to take too seriously... the science in it is forced and "Dinosaur George" should go study some more for the sake of the people that believe everything he says...

P.S. Why every time I watch an American show/documentary about these animals they only use superlatives to describe them? Everything must be the BIGGEST! STRONGEST! THE MOST EVIL! THE MOST FEROCIOUS! even when they are not...

Dinosaur carnage over and over again
tyrannophillip21 January 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I think this was a weaker documentary. First, I will say what I like about this series: It has got decent CGI in my opinion. Perhaps the biggest flow with this series is that it is supposedly a documentary. However, it's treats the subject of paleontology as a self- promoting action movie kind of thing. Most we see here are prehistoric creatures murdering each other brutally. There's nothing else except violence in this " documentary". I didn't enjoy this series. Also, some of the dinosaur designs are horrible. For example, the dromaeosaurs ( raptors) are almost featherless, and Pachyrhinosaurus has a horn on it's nose, an outdated theory. It also has the head of another genus. If you watch this show like an entertaining movie, it's awesome. But if you watch it as a documentary, it totally fails. If you want to learn about dinosaurs, just pick " Walking with Dinosaurs" (1999) or " When Dinosaurs Roamed America" ( 2001) over this. Also, they re- use many roars ( Ceratosaurus and Allosaurus sound the exact same.). I'd say it's watchable as a movie, but unwatchable as a documentary.

I HATE this sad excuse for a documentary!
kaijunerd17 March 2022
I hate Jurassic Fight Club for 3 main reasons. The first reason I despise this show is that it's inaccurate, even for the time. Some examples of things that were inaccurate, even when the show came out are Majungasaurus having defined forearms, Pachyrhinosaurus having a nasal horn, Deinonychus and other dromaeosaurs not having feathers, and SEVERAL OTHERS. The second reason why I loathe Jurassic Fight Club is that the editing is annoying and almost gives you a mini-seisure because there are too many fast-pased jump cuts and ugly color filters. The last reason why I have DISDAIN for this series is that it's ONLY about dinosaurs killing each other, and whenever this peice of crap masquerading as a documentary brings up something that's not about killing, it only spends only a few minutes on that subject so it can just get to the bloodshed quicker. Dinosaurs were regular animals and didn't fight to the death for no reason apart from some "endless hunger". This is a documentary, and documentaries are supposed to be educational, but Jueassic Fight Club LIES TO ITS AUDIENCE. 1 out of 10, would not reccomend.

Fights over Facts.
deeformecreep20 December 2021
This show is infamous among the paleontology communities for it's inaccurate depictions of these animals and ridiculous fight scenarios.

If you are looking for cheap entertainment to watch ironically then maybe this will please you but other than that stay away, don't watch this show to get educated.

But if nothing else this show did give us the meme of Dinosaur George saying: " Tyrannosaurus Freaking Rex!"

unrealized potential
agentyoung00714 September 2010
This show has a very interesting idea, but unfortunately, its potential was not fully realized. Dinosaurs fascinate most people because they are shrouded in mystery. The CGI reconstruction of the fight scenes are very well done, even though there might be inaccurate in some cases, but in my opinion, that's part of the fun, the fact that you can play with the presentation a bit.

On the other hand, despite the good idea and great CGI rendering, the show's major problem is it's time. The show has 45 minute long episodes and it is very repetitive. The announcer and paleontology experts repeat the facts many times, and you can't help but feel that they think you're dumb. I think this show would of worked better in a 25-30 minute time-frame, giving the great feeling and graphics, but wouldn't be repetitive and boring.

Where did they go wrong?
Terryfan2 February 2023
Warning: Spoilers
When you get a new documentary on Dinosaurs you should expect interesting facts and pictures and animations works on Dinosaurs but here it is just like if you hired wrestling writers to make a show about dinosaurs.

Jurassic Fight Club at the time seem like a show I would watch because I enjoyed watching documentaries about Dinosaurs as they were very interesting animals.

But here is a example of why you shouldn't make a ridiculous argument about Dinosaurs.

Because here they make them seem like bloodthirsty creatures who are some kind of bloodlust to hunt and kill any animal in their way. Even the narrator would make such remarks about how evil these animals were. The paleontologists they would have on the show would be supporting the idea and even insulting a few dinosaurs with untrue claims of these animals all for the use of making a fighting show.

There are much better documentaries out there that will be better than this show I rather watch old documentaries that had better animation than this show.

Avoid Jurassic Fight Club at all cost.

Horrible, awesomebros-only quote-on-quote "documentary"
dinolover-2295213 June 2023
OMG, this is the worst dinosaur documentary I have ever seen! This show should have never been produced because of many, many reasons. The dinosaurs are well beyond inaccurate even during the time the series was made: raptors being featherless, theropods having pronated wrists, every dinosaur being shrink-wrapped even when healthy, etc. Not only that, but some of their "dinosaurs" don't have anything like their real counterparts, for example, their depiction of "Pachyrhinosaurus" is shown with a nasal horn like other ceratopsid, when it didn't in real life, and their "Majungatholus" (which was actually Majungasaurus) is shown with highly-developed theropod arms and long hind legs, which is the complete opposite of the real animal. Not only that, but they depict every carnivore as bloodthirsty monsters killing everything and constantly roaring at the top of their lungs every two seconds, and herbivores as canon fodder (being helpless meatsacks) for the predators to eat, which is false in reality (imagine if elephants are predator fodder for foxes... yeah, I know. This is really dumb.) and seems to only appeal toxic awesomebro people and not actual paleontologists. Ceratosaurus, in particular, is also portrayed as a weakling and bullied every time Allosaurus shows up, and that makes me feel really bad for Ceratosaurus (even its design is inaccurate). Not only that, but nearly every carnivore makes really stupid decisions, for example, in Bloodiest Battle episode (a really cringy title), a group of Allosaurus makes a "smart" decision and try to hunt a fully grown healthy Camarasaurus instead of eating the carrion of Ceratosaurus and young Stegosaurus (or even finish off a weakened adult Stegosaurus), and guess what? They get killed by the massive sauropod, such a dumb idea only a completely insane and incompetent animal would do. And finally, this show literally lies to its audience, like stating that "T-Rex had an infectious bite" or "Dromaeosaurus used hand signals to communicate". Ugh, I believe that this is what led to the "Dinosaur Dark Era" of dino documentaries, with almost no good dinosaur documentary until Prehistoric Planet (the best dinosaur documentary of all time, with Walking with Dinosaurs being the second best in my opinion) on Apple TV premiered. I WILL NEVER RECOMMEND JURASSIC FIGHT CLUB, AND IT NEEDS TO BE COMPLETELY FORGOTTEN.

Effort was made, but in the WRONG place
Gecko-8265428 November 2023
The budget for this appalling show seems to be higher than some, but all that effort was out into the wrong place. Instead of make Fight Club a factual and educational documentary, the creators turned it into some awesome bro epic dino blood brawl.

The many inaccuracies include (but are not limited to):
  • The Dromaeosaurs (raptors) are portrayed as pack hunting and featherless. There is extensive fossil evidence that this is untrue.

  • Tyrannosaurus is said to have a toxic bite like a Kamodo dragon, because it's teeth were serrated. However, many other carnivores have serrated teeth and no toxins. It is absurd speculation to believe T-Rex had toxins in its teeth like a Kamodo dragon (infact, it has been found that Kamodo dragons have VENOM, not just bacteria).

The portrayal of the animals is just dreadful. Dinosaurs/prehistoric animals were NOT bloodthirsty and didn't have some "endless thirst to kill". Many of the animals make absolutely rediculous decisions that they'd have to be rabid to do in real life.

Overall, this show should be a fictional show, not a documentary. The dinosaurs in JFC are just monsters, not animals like in reality.
