They took a risk but it was worth it

They took a risk but the execution from production to acting was very well done. Really chuffed to see a Nigerian film that made such a genre of action relatable to Nigerian theme and story line. Well done and definitely worth the watch.

Only the first step, on the journey of a 1,000 miles
TruView4 October 2021
This film was reminiscent of Mel Brook's Life Stinks, which debuted in the early 90s. Indeed, it was a carbon copy beginning with its inauspicious circumstances to the ending's big reveal. Overall, it was entertaining but like most Nollywood films, there were no added layers of complexity; the good and bad guys are always too easily identifiable and thusly one dimensional.

One thing in particular I did NOT like about this movie was the role of the son. While it was necessary to show how naive he was in contrast to the greater realities of the less fortunate, they overshot the mark making him appear exceedingly slapstick and slow to understanding. Someone like that CANNOT be left in charge of anything!

The question I must ask is the following: Does this style of movie-making singularly define Nollywood films? And by that I mean, is this to be the preeminent face and form of Nollywood motion pictures? If so, then great! I am always happy to see my people shine regardless. But if not, then let's get more creative... seriously. 🤔

a solid script, a solid cast

Seven had all our favorite actors! The excitement was just over the top 😍 A solid script with a solid cast and a solid message

DELICIOUS

-So, we have Bimbo Manuel, Efa Iwara, Richard Mofe Damijo, and Patrick Diabuah in one movie? 😃

-The editing was well carried out, especially the scene transitions and soundtracks that flavored the scenario

-Tosin Igho gave us a good sense of Ajegunle by showcasing the good, the bad, and the ugly.

The shaky movements of the camera accentuated the turbulent vibe that we were immersed in the story

-The storytelling took us from point A to point B without confusion. Great lessons highlighted

BLAND

-Few continuity issues

-Being a speed junkie, we were looking forward to Kolade demonstrating some mad car racing stunts, however, it didn't happen 🙁

-Minor production hiccups included the scenes shot inside the cars, weak audio, and dull fighting choreography.

Hits the right note

Nollywood can be hit and miss sometimes but Seven is definitely a hit. You might get good editing, bad script or great story terrible cinematography that doesn't happen here. Seven has a reality that most Nollywood movies lack. The language is Street, the cast stellar, cinematography and editing is on point. It also has a great plot. Best of all it puts Ajegunle on the map.

Good...
RosanaBotafogo20 April 2023
After the death of his rich father, a young man with no interest in taking over his father's business needs to survive for seven days in the Nigerian neighborhood of Ajegunle, where he faces several obstacles to receive his inheritance.

Yet another good Nollywood production, a bit clichéd, and some scenes a little too over the top, which doesn't take away from the magic and charm, and especially the message that the film intends to pass on, valuing roots, respect and paternal affection, condemnation of over-ambition, with satisfying action scenes, somewhat predictable, great ending, the brave little girl, very representative, a good film...
