A Sheffield Steel Story
petersmovieposters-3637721 August 2020
Coming back from the war, young Furnival must choose between his father's struggling steel firm or the big, prosperous company that has offered him a job. He tours his old city while making up his mind.

Made for the Board of Trade by The Central Office of Information it's unclear just who the intended audience was, I can only guess it was for other returning warriors who wondered where they might fit into the new order of the rebuilding city. That's the fascinating bit, particularly if you're a woodworker or knife aficionado that revels in the presence of genuine Sheffield steel products. Seeing the various foundries hard at work is a bit of steel geek heaven.

For cinephiles there's not a lot of new ground covered but, for what it is, it's competently done and not painful to watch. Cinematography is quite good and it's definitely a snapshot of a time and place that is long gone.
