The Nat Turner Rebellion is portrayed as in the 1841-1847 period. The rebellion actually took place in 1831.
In 1806, Tom Morre is discussing the slave ship revolt onboard the La Amistad led by the African leader Joseph Cinqué. This revolt did not take place until 1839, over twenty years later, and never involved a plot to burn Richmond or kill Virginia slave owners, as Moore describes, with the revolt having taken place off the shores of Connecticut.
The early part of episode 5, set in 1841, centers around Nat Turner's attempted slave revolt in 1831.
