Rogue Squadron reborn?
getchinator1893 October 2020
Picked this game up cause it reminded me of the ever popular game series rogue squadron and so far it's been a good intriguing game. Too bad EA decided to make it more about the online experience, outside of that, customizing your pilot is fun and along with that it almost just feels like an expansion pack for battlefront 2 (2015). Not bad at all for 39.99! Would recommend the game to anyone who enjoyed rogue squadron and Star Wars in general!

One of the most Star Wars-feeling games ever. Very enjoyable, but not for everyone.
jakeymallea5 October 2020
The game definitely has some problems, such as low amount of modes and lack of facial customisation, but the game is very enjoyable. The game has a high skill ceiling and, at first, can feel like you will never get the hang of it - but you do. I have literally never played a flight simulator before but I already feel like I'm on my way to becoming an ace pilot in the Star Wars universe. Customization is also fun, and different looks for your pilot and starfighter definitely makes you feel unique, aswell as different upgrades to unlock to give you an edge in different areas of gameplay.

In conclusion, the game is fun, but it's not for everyone. It has a very high skill ceiling and a progression system that gives you unlocks to better suit your play style (that you can only unlock by playing the game - no micro transactions, which is a step forward for EA). Would recommend for fans of Star Wars and/or flight simulators.

X-Wing reborn
petra_ste4 November 2020
This Star Wars space simulator looks and sounds neat, features four different spaceships for both the Rebel Alliance and the Empire with wildly different playing styles and a good level of customization, both functional and cosmetic.

The single player campaign, set after the destruction of the second Death Star, jumps back and forth between playing as a Rebel and an Imperial pilot with intertwining stories. Multiplayer allows for space battles with either simple dogfights or more elaborate fleet battles.

It's solid, although there is room for improvement, like a few more ships (TIE phantom, B-Wing...) and WAY more multiplayer maps. Incidentally, I appreciate the lack of micro-transactions, with EA apparently learning the lesson after the Battlefront 2 uproar.

Brings back memories (Spoiler Alert)
theosandersswabey20 August 2021
Warning: Spoilers
First off the graphics are amazing. All the maps each have a different stunning beauty and colour and this game is amazing in VR. Especially the final mission. This gives a massive X-Wing and Tie Fighter game mashup vibe only newer. Now the story is mainly decent. I found 2 plot holes though. Lindon Javes crashes into the Star hawk but does not die. He should've stayed dead. Then in another mission you are getting pushed by the Starhawk's gravity core to escape the interior of the Starhawk. In the Star Wars universe that should've pulverised a measly tie fighter.

The multiplayer is fun but could be improved. You only really enjoy this section of the game once you master each ship. There could be more ships and stuff but the update should take care of this.

Overall a solid game that brings nostalgia into the hearts of 90s Star Wars fans. Would recommend for VR.

It's a good experience but it needs more content and narrative
goldenawards29 July 2021
The experience and having an experience inside a spaceship is very good and even incredible, but it ends there, and it's difficult to adapt this style of game well, I feel it lacks content, multiplayer and a variation and more customization of both the gameplay and the ships, in general you will have fun piloting and a new and immersive experience, but unfortunately it ends there. I would find it more interesting to have spaceships along with land battles and more customizations like in the battlefront franchise.

Unnecessary
giticomi5 October 2021
This game was really unnecessary, with Star Wars Battlefront alredy having a good spaceship modes. The only good thing from this game was the campaign and the immersion it gave to the point of view of the spaceship. Controls are hard to learn and VR support feels very of with a controller in hand instead of the joysticks.

Super immersive and fun
jakebrown-711327 October 2020
Let me start this off by saying that this game is not for everyone. If you have no interest in flight sims you probably won't like this because it's basically just a Star Wars flight sim. Now that I've got that out of the way, this game is so much fun. I have had an absolute blast over the past 5 days singlehandedly taking down star destroyers, escaping ships right as they explode, escaping asteroid fields with an explosion chasing me, drifting in space, and a lot more.On top of all that you can play it in VR with a joystick. It's honestly some of the most fun I've had in a Star Wars game. Ok now I'll talk about the story. It's fine. That's really it. The story itself is nothing special but the fun gameplay really enhances it. While the story itself isn't great, the missions in the campaign can be a lot of fun. One part that really stood out is when you get to fly inside the center of an imperial listening post, blow a bunch of stuff up, and then fly out with an explosion right behind you as the doors are closing. It was super cinematic and immersive, I felt like I was actually in a movie. Another thing I kinda liked was that your character isn't really anything special. In almost every Star Wars game, your character is either a Jedi/force user or a leader of some elite squad. In this game you're just a pilot, and I kinda like it. You aren't the leader of anything, you aren't part of some special family or group, you're just a regular person in the Star Wars universe. Some people might not like that but I kind of enjoyed not being the center of the universe in a video game. Ok now the multiplayer. The multiplayer is a lot better than I was anticipating. The dogfight mode is only a 5v5 deathmatch on a huge map, but somehow still has constant action and doesn't feel too big or too slow. Fleet battles are awesome because it feels like an actual war in the stars. The flagships have actual systems you can take down instead of just shooting one spot on their hull for 3 hours. they both have shield systems, targeting, power, and tractor beams, plus a ton of cannons and turrets, all of which can be destroyed. Star Wars squadrons is just a great experience and a ton of fun , and they have GONK droid bobble heads that you can put in your ship so it's automatically a good game for that. The last thing I want to say is that if you have VR and/or a joystick, use them. This game is 10x as fun with those. And it's only $40.

Gets old very quickly
nix-cornelissen4 October 2020
The graphics and customization in this game is something that other developers should look at as a good standard. However for a Star Wars Story, the story mode holds little engagement. Each mission is the same as the last. Fight enemy fighters, blow something up, rinse and repeat. There are no moments that keep you on the edge of your seat wondering what happens next. MULTIPLAYER needs work. Fleet Battles are entertaining but get old quickly if you play multiple matches in a row. Dogfighting is not enjoyable whatsoever, the Republic always wins, their fighters have shields, the Empire's do not. I believe this game was a huge missed opportunity. There was so much that could have been incorporated into this game that simply went unused.

Hours of fun !
As a Star Wars fan, I was waiting a modern X-Wing & Tie Fighter game. I spent hours on the solo campaign and some online deathmatches.

Unfortunately, on PC, it only runs on Microsoft Malware 10....

Monotonous
juangaitan12 October 2020
It was promising but gets monotonous quickly and to make it worse they start pushing identity politics into the game. Keep your social agenda out of games.

The Best Star Wars Pilot Simulator
KalKenobi8318 October 2020
Played Star Wars: Squadrons very excellent game also great graphics and voice work By Peta Sergeant (Iron Sky) as Terisa Kerrill, Phil Morris(Justice League:Doom) as Lindon Javes,Alistair McKenzie(Grimm) as LT-514 ,Keythe Farley(Mass Effect 2) as Ardo Baradoi,Misty Lee(Star Wars:Battlefront II) as Leia Organa, Noshir Dalal(Call Of Duty:Black Ops III) as Varko Grey, Helen Sadler(Star Wars Battlefront)as Havin Vonreg ,Scott Lawrence(Star Wars:Jedi Fallen Order) as Darth Vader, Jim Pirri(Penguins Of Madagascar) as Shen, Sofia Pernas(Operation Rogue) as Rella Sol,Rebecca Wisocky(The Mentalist) as Kierah "Gunny" Koovah, Bex Taylor-Klaus(Voltron:Legendary Defender) as Keo Venzee, Erica Luttrell(iZombie) as Grace Sienar ,Vanessa Marshall(Star Wars Rebels,Lego The Freemaker Adventures) As General Hera Syndulla,Denis Lawson(Star Wars, Star Wars:The Rise Of Skywalker) as Wedge Antilles ,Dionne Audain(How To Get Away With Murder ) as Grand Admiral Rae Sloane,James Arnold Taylor(TMNT,Star Wars:The Clone Wars ) as Feresk "Frisk" Tissat, Michelle Ortiz(MADtv) as Zerelda Sage and Robin Atkins Downes(Superman Vs The Elite) as Gralm.

Campaign:

What I really enjoyed about the perspective of Playing with members of the New Republic and The Imperial Remnant both had great characters my favorites being Keo Venzee and Shen both brought as fresh perspective during this familiar time period i also love the diversity of the characters Keo Venzee being non-binary and Varko Grey being LGBTQ i also enjoyed the return of familar Wedge Antilles,Hera Syndulla and Rae Sloanes first Appearance in the media also loved how both the New Republic and Imperial were humanized also connecting to future media such as past media the Sequel Trilogy,Rogue One,Star Wars Rebels and Star Wars:Resistance it was great to learn the beginnings of Project Starhawk my only complaint is that we didnt participate in the Battle Of Jakku also didnt wish Linden Javes didnt fake his death.

Multiplayer: Gameplay is class-based, with both the New Republic and the Empire having four starfighter classes that the player can choose from: Fighter (TIE Fighter for the Empire and X-Wing for the Republic), Interceptor (TIE Interceptor and A-Wing), Bomber (TIE Bomber and Y-Wing), and Support (TIE Reaper and U-Wing). Also its awesome you can participate in in Dogfights also fleet battles are Super fun you customize the appearance of both your fighter and pilot which is great as the inside of your ship. I think This The Best Star Wars Pilot Simulator on par with Star Wars Rogue Squadron Series from the N64 and Gamecube.

Overall I think This The Best Star Wars Pilot Simulator 10/10

A great concept devoid of polish
justinlozowski21 December 2021
This game took me back to the x-wing vs tie fighter days on PC. A graphically superb game, but that's where it ends. The story is one dimensional on both sides, the characters are flat and boring (except Wedge, he's a legend) and identity politics ruins an otherwise mediocre experience. This game could have been so much more, and ends up being so much less.
