Fun/Emotional Look At Garth's Music Legacy
zkonedog21 January 2021
As a longtime Garth Brooks fan, I'll watch anything related to him or his music that I can get my hands on. I somehow missed the original airing of his Gershwin Prize celebration (it happening right before a massive pandemic probably didn't help), but recently caught it and had a good time celebrating his career and legacy.

Basically, this show takes two formats: First, a bunch of singer/songwriters cover some classic Garth tunes. Then, the man of the hour performs for perhaps half an hour or so. Some of the covers are a bit hit-or-miss (some better than others), but overall fun to listen too.

What really will strike one about this Garth award tribute is how emotional it is. Garth tears up for nearly every performance and shows a tremendous amount of respect for all involved. I found myself moved by the proceedings on multiple occasions as well.

Overall, this is a fun and poignant tribute to one of the greatest musicians to ever perform/write. Highly recommended for all Garth-heads out there.
