A Fun Ride
robinsonaustin-0749014 August 2020
It follows the eponymous Hana Uzaki who is at first delighted to be at the same college as her classmate from high school Shinichi Sakurai. But when she sees that he has a rather mundane lifestyle, she decides to take it upon herself to hang out with him.

I get that there was some slight controversy of the series because of some moral guardians being critical of Uzaki's design. If not for her...assets, she would easily be confused for maybe a high school or elementary school kid. Her being short not helping matters. But...the show establishes that she is a young adult as in reaching her 20s at best.

Pushing the controversy aside, thus far the characters are very enjoyable. There's Uzaki herself for starters. She is energetic and preppy as well as a Grade A troll who loves to mess around with Shinichi. She has the potential to be annoying, but she squarely falls under the "not too obnoxious" side for me partially because it is a more funny kind of annoying wherein the character or characters are the ones being irritated by her antics.

But she also has her good side. There are moments where she does unwittingly drive Shinichi off the deep end and she apologizes. Ultimately she does have a good heart where she wants to ensure that Shinichi does live fully. Shinichi is a good foil. He tends to want to be by himself and enjoy that time and when Uzaki intervenes, you can understand his frustration with her. But he does find himself slowly enjoying being around Uzaki. Despite this, he does have a softer side such as loving cats and dogs. It's unfortunate that because of the perpetual scowl on his face, he comes off as imposing.

Supporting characters include Ami, her father, and Shinichi's only friend. Ami works for her father at his cafe where Shinichi works largely because of how attractive he is. Which comes across as interesting in terms of Ami: she lusts after Shinichi because of his physique, but much like her father, she is a passive watcher of Uzaki and Shinichi taking an interest in seeing their relationship bloom.

Sakaki is Shinichi's friend who is a ladies' man who also takes an interest in the relationship because he wants Shinich to get a girlfriend which puts him in conflict with Ami due to him wanting to take an active approach in getting them together. He's kind of sleazy to me, but that's from a minor glance. He may get better over the course of the series.

The animation and voice work is also good as well as the sound effects. Overall, a good watch.

Funny as hell.
koustav-6662916 August 2020
This anime is one of the funniest anime of 2020. Uzaki-chan aka Hana Uzaki is 16 year old girl with immature mind who always wants to hangout with his senior. As the story advances we will see the funniest accident a teenager couple can go through. Though they not realized yet, but they both have feelings for each other.

Uzaki chan Wants to Hang Out!
Tweekums9 June 2023
When Hana Uzaki discovers that she will be going to the same college as Shinichi Sakurai, a boy who was a year above her at high school, she is delighted. However she soon discovers that he is introverted and doesn't appear to be getting involved with much; his somewhat intimidating appearance doesn't help. After a year she determines to get him out of his shell and doing more... whether he wants to or not.

I thought this series was a lot of fun. Hana and Shinichi's contrasting characters were a good combination. Sometimes she may be a little overbearing but not excessively so and this drives much of the comedy. The story is simple enough; it is very much character driven with most things happening to provide a laugh. In this it succeeds. The character designs are good although some may be put off by Uzaki's appearance; she looks quite a bit younger than one would expect for a college girl despite having an ample chest! One would expect this to suggest a fan service heavy series but, while there is some, is isn't excessive. As well as good protagonists there are plenty of fun secondary characters, especially the protagonists' families. Overall I'd recommend this to anime fans, especially those who enjoyed the likes of 'Don't Toy with Me, Miss Nagatoro'.

These comments are based on watching the series in Japanese with English subtitles.

Stop hiding the truth
Mysterygeneration13 January 2024
People, stop hiding the truth. Accept her as your (only) waifu.

As the title implies, "Uzaki-chan wants to hang out" is merely a girl looking to have fun. It lacks depth and originality. It is healthful. That's more than enough, my boys. I don't usually have high expectations for anime because if I do, I can become so disappointed that there is no way to get over it. However, I was really happy with this and couldn't be happier.

Uzaki-chan is a story about Uzaki and her senpai Shinichi, a young girl with dekai tits. They spend time together, but Senpai gets bullied, which is sweet and makes Uzaki feel better. Senpai loves Uzaki but cannot confess to her, and he is embarrassed to do so. He is a gentleman at its finest, and he loves Uzaki's dekai tits, which motivate him and give him a happy life. Uzaki's sometimes indecent nature is beneficial for Senpai, as he knows he has chosen the best girl and knows that if he leaves her, someone else will take her and be the happy guy. This story highlights the importance of choosing the right partner for a happy life.

Annoying in the right way
kyler-093636 September 2020
Lots of people say that Uzaki is too annoying. I'll start off by saying yes she is annoying, but that's kind of the whole point. She's clearly interested in the protagonist and bothering him is her way of showing affection. Just like how any mother could tell you that the girl that's bothering you at school has a crush on you. thats exactly what this is. If watching that seems appealing to you then you'll love this show, but if not it might not be for you.

I miss Nagatoro...
Kitahito3 December 2022
Uzaki-chan Wants to Hang Out! Lacks everything that made Don't Toy with Me, Miss Nagatoro so enjoyable: the main character is bland and uninteresting, the supporting characters are similarly negligible, and Uzaki is irritating and fake. But she has big breasts. In most cases, the humor factor is either unimaginative or very direct sexual sitcom style nonsense, which is mostly confusing, boring, and I constantly found myself rolling my eyes at the stupidity of the situations. But Uzaki has absurdly enormous breasts. The plot hardly goes anywhere, the two protagonists, who are doomed to be a couple from the very first moment, move towards the goal with chicken steps, because one is an idiot goof, and the other is clinically dishonest with her feelings. But Uzaki's breasts are extremely large by the way. The drawing of the anime is average (meaning: they invested as little energy as possible), the music is flat, and the opening and ending are downright forgettable. However, Uzaki's breasts are in fact very large, and that's where all the value of the series comes from. That being said, somehow they even managed to make the breasts boring. Which is a serious merit...

Funny.

I can't understand why this show is rated so low. It's funny, it's cute, it's memorable. The characters are outstanding. Theres just so much to gleam from this gem.

Thank you outrage culture
disturbedtacos17 April 2021
I only watched this anime to see what all the twitter crybabies were complaining about and what the big deal was. Little did I know I would find one of my new favorite animes. Uzaki is loud and obnoxious in the best way. I'm completely invested in the relationship between her and Sakurai. Even the side characters are entertaining and charming in their own ways. Can't wait for season 2.

So again, thank you cancel culture. Without you crying like toddlers who just crapped themselves I wouldn't have discovered this gem.

I have never laugh that much
josejuandiazcampos1 September 2020
Uzaki-chan is a very calm anime...sometimes? It kind of has a plot, because many things that happen in one episode, are based in the ones that happened in the last one. And, thanks to this and to the fact that the relationship between Uzaki and Senpai grows in a very funny way, it feels very good to see the development between these two characters.

As we keep watching this 12 episodes anime, we kind of get used to some of the most often jokes that happen, and also to enjoy many of the references that are present in the series (OMAE WA MOU SHINDEIRU xD). And, even after the funny moments, we also get some very cute and sweet moments related to the romance between our two main characters, that make the relationship between both, in some way, realistic.

Give this anime a chance, after all the controversia that generated in Twitter, I really feel like it is something more than a trending topic material

This normally wouldn't be my cup of tea but...
trimmsthem24 December 2022
I'm the type of guy who normally watches isekai's, action/adventure, fighting/tournament and comedy stuff. But rom/coms? Hell no! Not gonna lie, I hate rom/coms of any type. But when I spotted Uzaki-Chan wants to hang out, I was initially only enticed by the cute titular character. But I thought "well, I'm normally not into rom/coms but let's give it a shot, see if it's funny". And boy was I caught off guard by HOW DAMN FUNNY this show is! I love Uzaki the most because of how much and how well she pisses off Shinichi. This normally wouldn't be my cup of tea but... I never thought I'd like a rom/com yet here I am! The relationships between all characters is just flat out hilarious. Between Uzaki and Shinichi, it is just a flood of pure gold. The other interactions between side characters like Sakaki and Ami really spice up the hilarity when throwing them into the mix of their current "situation" with getting the 2 main characters together. Season 1 was the most hilarious one between both seasons. Whereas season 2 is focusing more on the family meeting and getting to know Shinichi while showing a more serious tone gradually building. Thus leaving behind the barrage of constantly funny episodes. This is a truly enjoyable show if you have a sense of humor and aren't a feminist Karen looking for something to complain about it. Take my word for it, it's worth the watch and laughs!

Pretty decent although some of the jokes miss severely

Warning: Spoilers
I especially like the cafe owner and ami. The comedy from them also manages to hit. The misses come in the form of that utterly stupid shocked cat that pops up here and there.

A Must Watch Anime
londonelim14 February 2024
Warning: Spoilers
This anime has comedy & romance. The dialogue is hilarious same with the characters. The anime definitely has internet humor and not everyone is going to think it's funny. The two main characters of this anime are great and super funny to watch. If you are ever looking for a funny anime series to watch you definitely should give this one a try Now I'm going to get into spoilers: There are only a couple of things I have problems with in this anime 1. The brother of Uzaki voice actor doesn't fit the character 2. The last episode of Season 2 should've ended with them becoming a couple like how it was leading up, if they decided to make them not a couple just to make a season 3 they shouldn't of done that, they could've just made them a couple for season 3 or not have it leading up to a false ending that doesn't fit / feel right.

It's a wonderful series
vidriof29 November 2023
Warning: Spoilers
It's also fun to see what Uzaki's attitude is like and how it changes, and the cat's face that comes out is also funny. The characters are interesting, not only the protagonists but also the antagonists. The romantic moments you have are amazing and the expressions on their faces are beyond words. The story is interesting and well done, it is perfect the way they made it so that when you watch the first one you want to see the second I highly recommend it. Uzaki-chan, incredible series, it's interesting, it's fun and oh, suspense, I already want them to make the third season.so you wait to see it😀👍🐱
