In "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" (1986), Ferris (Matthew Broderick) says of Cameron (Alan Ruck) that "if you put a piece of coal up Cameron's ass, in two weeks, you'd have a diamond." In this episode, Dr. Hood (Alan Ruck) is almost turned into a "logic diamond".
The foam gushing out of the beaker is a simple home science experiment. Mix baking soda with dishwasher soap, then add lemon juice. The acid in the lemon juice will react with the baking soda, producing CO2 which will form bubbles in the soap.
Dr Hood claims that you wouldn't want it be in the tunnel with magma moving at 80 feet per second. That's about 55 miles per hour or just under 100kph, which would be rather fast for a tunneling machine.
This episode's title came from "Best in Show" (2000), which is about a group of people competing in a dog show.
Dr. Hood shares a name with Oregonian mountain Mt. Hood
