This was one of three documentaries about British cities narrated by Telly Savalas. Although the film tries hard to give the impression that Savalas travelled extensively around Birmingham, he never actually went to the city, his voice-over being recorded in a studio in London during a promotional tour of England.
On the second day of filming, producer Baim decided that the weather in Birmingham was too cloudy for what he wanted. He then decided to travel 70 miles south and film in the Cotswolds. This allowed narrator Savalas to speak the line "You can give my regards to this Broadway anytime" over pictures of the village of Broadway.
