I am the Elephant Man

Warning: Spoilers
If you have seen the David Lynch film starring John Hurt and Sir Anthony Hopkins, then you would realise the terrible condition the man of the title suffers, and it is a very rare one. Basically this Body Shock documentary focuses on China's 'Elephant Man', Huang Chuncai, who has suffered a lifetime of life-threatening and growing tumours on his face, this condition is very similar to the kind that John Merrick (the Elephant Man of Britain) suffered. As a small child, Huang developed swelling on the side of his face, but now at 31 years old the growth of the tumours have destroyed his facial features, and he carries 20kg worth of extra facial tissue. Obviously as a child growing up he went through years of horrible bullying, and terrible poverty along with his parents and siblings. The big part of this documentary is that Huang is going to undergo a surgery to remove as much of these tumours as possible, and by the end of it, it is an improvement. A very gripping story, with some emotion and a character you can feel for. Very good!
