Kill the Messenger

Edit

Continuity

When Gary punches his car window in frustration of having his motorbike stolen, the family of 3 spectators on the pool deck assume a position of standing still, close together, and stare at Gary. When Gary yells, "What are you looking at?" they begin to walk away. About 5 seconds later they are back in their earlier pose/location. Even their arm positions are the same.
When Garry calls Coral for the first time, he alternates holding the telephone receiver with his left hand, right hand, or against his shoulder. There are multiple instances during the conversation where two hands are visible on the table, as he is taking notes, followed by quick cuts to him holding the phone with his hand with insufficient time to have raised it up from the table.
At 1.32.30, Gary punches out the side window of the Triumph, leaving large bits of jagged-edged glass still in place at the top of the door. A short while later, there is no glass whatsoever visible. The window glass has completely gone.

Factual errors

Jerry Ceppos announces that Gary has been named the National Press Association's Journalist of the Year. There is no such thing as the National Press Association. He was named Journalist of the Year by the Bay Area Society of Professional Journalists. This is why he is speaking at the SPJ awards at the end of the film.

Anachronisms

The first time Gary visits Nicaragua there is a shot of one of the streets, there you can see the logo of the telecommunications company Claro, which did not exist until 2003 and didn't arrive to Nicaragua until 2006.
There are new (large face) $100 bills in the crack-selling montage.
Immddiately after Webb's first meeting with Frank Wiel, there's a quick shot of an airport. The main aircraft in the shot, a 737, has winglets, which weren't used at the time of this story (mid-90s).
In 1995, the red Jeep used to inspect the airfield, would have had square headlights.

This is an older Jeep model and probably made in the 1970's. Jeeps only used square headlights in the 1980s and 1990s.
