- Two versions of this movie were created at the same time, one in German and one in English. Since the original poem is German, this version should be considered the original version. The English version used the original translation of the poem made by Edgar Alfred Bowring in 1853, using the title of that version as the title for the English version of the movie: "The Erl-King". Due to some difference in length of the English text, the timing of the English version is different and cannot be considered a mere dubbing. The last shot of the movie, where the narrator is shown speaking the last sentence, was also re-shot in English for that version. The English version runs 2:45 minutes, while the German version is 15 seconds shorter.
