The Money in the Bank Ladder matches were filmed on April 15, 2020, a full 25 days before the pay per view aired. Filming started at 8:00 am and went until midnight. It was noted that the filming for the matches was said to be tedious, and a lot of "hurry up and wait" for the next shots to get set up. With it being cold outside and the wrestlers not wearing any warm clothing just their wrestling gear, talent tried to stay warm during filming as they'd have to go from standing around to bumping on short notice.
The decision to have both Money in the Bank matches at WWE headquarters in Stamford, Connecticut is partially because the building is being sold and WWE is moving their operations to another location in Stamford. So WWE wanted their building to go out with a bang.
This was the first Money in the Bank PPV where both the men's and women's Money in the Bank matches took place at the same time.
The event was originally scheduled to take place at the Royal Farms Arena in Baltimore, Maryland, but the venue cancelled all shows that were to be held in May due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
