A Patriotic Film for the Entire Family
alancmiller28 June 2020
I ordered this dvd from the Edward R. Hamilton catalog for just $5.95, and I am so pleased with it that I intend to purchase additional copies for my friends. The acting is professional, the costumes are historically accurate, and the film fills its 82 minutes with non-stop action. Those of us who watch small, independent films are often disappointed by amateurish acting and poor production values, but this movie sets the standard for quality optics and editing. And what a great story it tells ! These are not the familiar Founding Fathers one sees in so many other films about the American Revolution. Outside of South Carolina, most viewers will never have heard of these patriots, but their story teaches us so much about the sacrifices of nameless men and women who were willing to risk their lives to get out from under the oppressive thumb of British rule. There are no four letter words, or gratuitous sex, but a lot of danger and a few bloody battle scenes. All in all, a very good film for the entire family on any patriotic holiday weekend.

True-to-life story of sacrifices made by actual Revolutionary War participants.

What a wonderful movie! So impressed with the technical aspects and reality of the area which I have learned to call home. The Charleston area is such a cosmopolitan area that we forget the the sacrifices of the ones who made this city become great. So proud that someone has found a way to portray the people of this area as more than back-woods revolutionaries upset about tea taxes. Finding the story of one of the unsung heroes of the Revolutionary War was such a bonus. Of particular interest was the beautiful love story portrayed by the Henry and Catherine. So touching to see the sacrifice displayed by all the women of this period as they gave their sons and lovers to this desperate cause.

Interesting American Revolution film for high school students

If we had films like this to watch back in school, I think history class would have been personal, well rounded and interesting. American Indian, 'Free born black man', women spies and a non-English immigrant all working together to be rid of Aristocratic domination. The film even goes further to include the story of those Americans who supported the British by tormenting and killing fellow Americans.

School schedule: The story line also fits time wise for viewing over two class periods.
